We all remember the incident on Match Of The Day Two when Alan Pardew claimed that Michael Essien footballer “raped” another, well that footballer was Ched Evans who was just last week found guilty and jailed for 5 years for rape.

That rug really tied the room together.

Was out drinking at the weekend and the terms "chedding" and "on the ched" were used to describe particularly rapey individuals in a nightclub

Sheffield United suspend reserve-team player Connor Brown for comments he made on Twitter after team-mate Ched Evans was jailed for rape.

The 19-year-old made various remarks regarding the case and supporting Evans, leading to a rape charity making a complaint to North Wales Police.

What did he actually say? Was it during the trial that he made the comments?

Sheffield United have launched an internal inquiry into comments made on Twitter by reserve-team player Connor Brown following team-mate Ched Evans' prison sentence last week after being found guilty of rape.

Evans was jailed at Caernarfon crown court last Friday after being found guilty of raping the woman who was "too drunk to consent".

Brown, 19, responded to Evans' five-year prison sentence by tweeting his support for Evans. In his rant he allegedly called the rape victim a 'money-grabbing little tramp'. The posts have since been taken down from the profile. It follows the naming of the teenage victim on social network sites.

A statement released on the club's official website read: "Sheffield United confirmed today that an internal investigation is under way into social media comments made by reserve-team player Connor Brown following the verdict in the Ched Evans trial.

"The club is aware of a very serious matter regarding comments made through the Twitter account of one of its players. As a result we have launched an inquiry."

A complaint about the comments was made to North Wales police by a leading rape charity. A spokeswoman for North Wales Police said: "We are aware of some comments made on social media sites and we are collating all relevant information."

Evans admitted having sex with the victim, then aged 19, at a hotel in north Wales last May. In her evidence, the woman said she has no memory of the incident and the prosecution argued she was too drunk to consent to sexual intercourse.

Evans' co-accused, the Port Vale defender Clayton McDonald, 23, who also admitted having sex with the victim, was found not guilty of the same charge.

Big fuss about this. It's a difficult one. He's served his punishment...should he not be allowed to get on with the rest of his life? Having said that I obviously wouldn't want a convicted rapist (though he maintains his innocence) playing for us. It's a difficult one.

Same here. Logically, the justice system has worked, he's served his time and deserves to be able to make a living now that he's out. So I support him being able to play again. But I still think he's a scumbag and I'd never want to watch him play again myself.

His full name is Chedwyn. That's not a name you get often.

Think he should be allowed to earn a living. As said above, I won't be watching him do it.

Feel a bit sorry for the victim, as all you hear about is him, and not the impact on her life.
                          *Except Michael, who died.

Maybe she wants her privacy respected.

Lots of stuff about the victim out there that doesn't put her in a positive light.

He's obviously been found guilty in a court of law but he vehemently insists his innocent, I don't know enough about the background of this but he should be allowed to make a living in his chosen profession, I think he might find it too tough to do so though.

I find the whole case odd. Obviously we are not given all the evidence that is presented in a courtroom but two men were charged with rape. Two men alleged the sex was consensual. The prosecution argue she was too drink to consent. One man is acquitted and one is convicted.
