I think his biggest problem is that he seems to feel he has not received justice, and is appealing the verdict.

Even based on his own testimony and the facts he readily admits, I would say he is is guilty. If he does not believe he has done anything wrong, then he has a problem.

He should maybe begin by apologising to the girl, and then try ad get on with his life from that point. I have zero sympathy for him as things stand.

Its a strange one because the whole evidence of him having sex with her was based on his own statement. The girl couldn't remember and there was no DNA evidence- surely you'd think if he was guilty (in that the girl didn't consent to him joining in), he'd have changed his story and said he didn't have sex with her.

I think the entire case rests on the fact that he did not receive consent, and if a girl is so wasted she cannot give consent, well, then that is still a 'no' and equivalent to rape. He must be gutted about the fact that he could have gotten away with it if he hadn't confessed but the bottom line is you cannot do what he did.

It's going to the CCRC/Appeal Court isn't it. Imagine if they clear him. I mean....we have to have faith in our justice system and judgements on the case and the fall out have to be based on the court's findings. But imagine if he's cleared. There'll have to be some serious and very public climbdowns.

If a girl is so wasted that she can't give consent, then what kind of bloke wants to have sex with her? The kind with zero compassion, or sense of her being a human being.

That whole culture is vile. The fact his mate had pulled the drunk girl and the first thing he thought to do was ring his mate so he could come and get involved as well.......what the hell? Why?

So yeah, the fact Evans just turned up and boned this girl out of the blue is reprehensible IMO.

I said all this to my cousin who is in his 20s....he and every one of his mates are footballers/failed footballers, all TOWIE types, identical haircuts, all totally ripped etc......and he said I sounded like a prude, a fuddy duddy. Amazing. It's just one generation below me and their attitudes are wildly different.

I wonder what they'd think of their peers if this happened to their sister? I'm sure they'd contradict themselves quickly enough.

Where does this sense of entitlement, or being able to think that behaving like an animal is not only normal but expected, come from?

A man just commented on a TMS post on facebook. His name was Eddie Raper. ha! How unfortunate. I clicked on his profile and he appears to be married and his wife appears to have taken his name.

One can only hope he is raper by name but not raper by nature. The opposite of Goodwilly, who was proved in court to have lived up to his name.

i am also an aging prude, but i also see the other seedier side of it at work.
two scroatey lads rolling up looking for a room so they can smash some young girl they've either got drunk or drugged. it makes me shudder.
how some lads think this is normal is beyond me, and how some girls can be so naive to let their guard down is just mental.
there are some girls who are right up for it and im sure that a promise of plenty of coke seems to be the magic formula and short cut for these low lifes.

It's outrageous. Aside from the raft of moral wrongness about it, what bloke would want his moment gatecrashed by one of his mates, or worse, a whole gang of them all stood around watching and tossing themselves off? I just cannot get my head around it.

I was quite shocked at some of the stories i was told by a lad i know who go's to some parties in my area after the pubs.

The amount of pissed up girls that get passed around at such events is quite shocking, lads having it off with girls so pissed they'll probably never realise it even happened, ceratinly not how many and who anyway.

But of course she'll be labelled a slut for it.

It was the perfect storm so to speak. Young, football "lads" who think they own the world, and a young, boozy, and by all accounts somewhat loose bird. First guy wasn't really in the wrong as the girl approached him and basically told him she was coming back to his hotel, I don't think he actually rang his mate to get him in on a 3way- think it was more to tell him he was taking a bird back to their room.

The fact Evans went back is the bit that's completely wrong. If he didn't do that, he wouldn't be in this mess and so that's why he's a sex offender. Regardless of if she said yes to him joining in- she was mid bang with another dude, and hammered pissed. It's a scummy thing to do, and if you end up being accused of rape on the back of it, its kind of your fault.
