By that, I mean that the guy is a complete scumbag.

In response to Robbie9, not Dom.

I dunno, even based on his own testimony there is a lesson to learned. Not rape by the letter of the law, but not an incident he will be particularly proud off.

You'd think from that article that highly paid footballers are the only people to have had sex with a girl who had a drink.
          Football without Origi is nothing

I think it's more the 'turning up and having sex with a pissed girl who is having sex with his team mate, without ever saying a word to her whilst his brother and mate try to film it through a door' angle that draws the attention we've certainly not all done that.

So is he the innocent party in this now? I haven't followed the story. I imagine that it's just a shag that turned into a rape? Did Evans rape the girl, was she in a state where she couldn't refuse? This has tarnished someone's reputation and career. During such investigations both parties should be protected.

Nobody but those there know what happened even now. I struggle with the "consentual" aspect since he admits never spoke to her, joined in without asking her and left via a fire escape. It's still dodgy as hell to me.

Having letting himself into the room by deception.

I didn't get that impression from the article myself.

Two young people both of whom behaved badly, had one of therm not been a football player/pop star/film actor no one would have known anything about this matter.

However you view this case this is pretty disturbing behaviour

Evans lied, as he admitted in court, to obtain the key that gained access to the bedroom, did not speak to the young woman before, during or after sex, then left the hotel by a fire exit.

I get the smae impression from that too. If the guy is a sex offender in the criminal nature, or a sexual deviant in that he takes part in kinky things most people don't then that is that. He is that regardless of whether he is a footballer paid £20,000 a week or an admin assistant getting £20,000 per year. His wage is utterly irrelevant to his conduct. It seems to me we are being reminded how highly he is paid as a way to sway opinion against him. His salary is the least important fact in the case.

I mean, look at the link for the second article 'just-how-sick-football-culture-in-britain' - they're ****ing kidding themselves if they think this is a football problem and not one of society. No need to treat it as a problem with footballers.

I think you've missed the point. Which is that there is a culture within football in which accepts this as absolutely normal behaviour. Money and celebrity plays more than a part. That is a big reason behind it. These people live in a bit bubble with a massive sense of entitlement. .

Sure, you might get white collar office workers acting like this, and you will certainly find footballers who prefer to lead socially acceptable and conventional lives.

But that is not the point.
