    Nicely put.

Think I might print it off and give it to Mancs and other Bodge apologists.

Should save me endlessly repeating myself through the weeks and months ahead.

As has been said plenty of times no doubt, if Eriksson/Capello had had the same results and style of play as Hodgson did in these Euros, they'd have been absolutely slaughtered.

That performance against Italy was one of the most embarrassing England performances ever in my opinion.
Bodge's media chums calmly point to other factors that they feel are responsible for the national team's shortcomings, like poor coaching at youth level or the lack of a winter break. Ofcourse, these issues are never mentioned as a mitigating factor when it isn't one of their buddies in the England hotseat.

In Mexico the commentators had a laugh every time Hodgson came into caption, referring to him as the Crown Prince of anti-football. They could not believe that he just sat there and was not more '"animated" and that his tactics were 1980's Italian league.

They compared England as trying to emulate Chelski's victory in the Champions League.

I just don't get it. It's making me angry, and I rarely get angry.

Someone told me he was on TS this morning. Much as I despise Keys and Gray they do have the capacity to ask the occasional incisive question.

Am I right and did anyone hear it?

As a slight aside, I always find it slightly bemusing in tournament football how the media shape the narrative of a team's performance and the instantaneous revisionist history. Pirlo (and Italy) had 120 minutes to break down a negative England side, failed to do so, and won in a tight penalty shootout.

Had Italy lost to England, I doubt anyone would be lauding Pirlo's performance, yet he's now the flavour of the week (about 5 years too late) in the English (but also worldwide) media despite not even creating many real chances.

It's similar to how Hodgson is getting credit for losing a quarter final to a formidable Italian side. Had England gone through on penalties no one would be calling Italy formidable, and yet the only difference ultimately was the width of the post.

haha BBC have the headline: 'Hodgson quits England Duty'

                      It's for rugby though...prick teases.

Yeah it was just the usual arse licking crap from them and the usual on and on answers from him, nothing interesting really, he did say it was an "achievement" to get Italy to penalties though.

                          Thanks.

I was hoping they might have been ballsy enough to suggest that he might have considered a plan for dealing with Pirlo or even asked if Woy will be wedded to 442 for his entire England tenure.

15 so far in 5 games according to SSN with 2 assists and a goal.

England have risen two places to fourth in the Fifa world rankings despite their Euro 2012 quarter-final exit.

European champions Spain remain number one, while beaten finalists Italy - who knocked England out on penalties - go up six places to sixth.

The 2014 World Cup hosts Brazil drop out of the top 10 for the first time, falling five spots to 11th.

Wales remain 38th, Scotland are ranked 49th - down eight places - while Northern Ireland move up one to 102nd.

The Fifa world rankings are compiled every month, with ranking points accumulated according to results, the importance of the matches played and the strength of opposing teams.

Still.......what a magnificent achievement by Hodgson this summer.
No-one, I mean no-one would expect one of the top 5 teams in the world to progress from a relatively easy group.
                              Magnificent achievement.

The ranking is a bit OTT but England are unbeaten in competitive games since 2010 (well done Capello) so it just reinforces the fact England are a good side - among the cluster of sides below Spain and Germany - and makes an absolute mockery of Hodgson's expectation management bull****, and the fans and press who have swallowed it.
