If Brazil think they've had some flair over the years then wait till they see that midfield lighting up the Maracana!

Is a good game against Milan 14 months ago going to keep Chamberlain in the squad forever? Cleverley has only got on the pitch once in 6 weeks aswell and was so bad he had to be hauled off.

Is Cleverley too old for the U21s? It could be he's been picked for the full squad because better players are too important to the U21s to be promoted while he is ineligible for the U21s. That would be a bizarre situation
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Think he is too old now at 23.

IIRC the cut-off point is somewhat arbitrarily defined in the qualifying for a tournament, meaning that a player can be over 21 and still play for the U21s until the tournament is over, Henderson for example is currently 22 (23 next month) but still eligible. I'm not sure whether Cleverley falls into the same category or not.

                  Ok thanks

I didn't think he was that old.

Very different players though. It also has to help that Cleverly plays with Carrick all the time. I think it has been a mistake not to sue Carrick more for England.

That shouldn't even be in doubt.

Cleverley, like Welbeck, only gets in the England squads because they play for United. It sounds such a typical whinge but you only have to look at Welbeck's conversation rate and yet he's a regular these days. If he was putting those performances in for Sunderland again he wouldn't be anywhere near any international squad.

I don't think that is fair really - Welbeck often plays wide and is in there as a hard working mobile forward with solid technique who can also be used in other roles. The lack of quality striking options in English football is a worry but given the competition I think Welbeck deserves his spot and has performed well when given a chance by England.
