He's practically at the end of his top level career, so I think its fair enough.

It's funny how contracts work. You buy somebody at market value, and that generally depreciates over the term of the contract you give them. So what do you do?

You renew it part way through and spend more money on wages. Or you cash in while you can.

Is letting someone leave on a bosman really such a bad thing if you have got value out of the player for the duration of the whole contract?

Yes but like Carroll they stupidly overpayed for him, Unlike Carroll he is very talented though

I hate to admit it but Spurs although they've lost Modric, they have his money to blow & Vertoghen,Sigurrsson & Dembele IMO are really excellent signings. Their after Moutinho too who is a super little player and would be a perfect replacement for Modric. No doubts they will buy a striker too, spurs are never short of a few quid.

While we can only dream of getting that sort of return from Andy Carroll, I still wouldnt say that Scum had there moneys worth, he only played 3 seasons with them last couple he as been a bit part player.
