Their after Moutinho too who is a super little player and would be a perfect replacement for Modric. No doubts they will buy a striker too, spurs are never short of a few quid.
Moutinho and a striker in would see them better off than last year.

        Just a brilliant signing.

Think they also signed Mandzukic and Shaqiri. Good squad they've got.

I think the fee paid was good value. They, like us overpaid for the striker in the first place

The difference is that whilst they might have overpaid they did get the hoped for results. His goals and assists helped them win things.

Having said that he joined a successful team, not a team that has struggled on and off the field. That IMO is big difference

It's hardly a story for the papers to go mad on then. Fergies mates or not.
                Oh I don't know.

The point being, if it was us,they would be going to town

I agree, that is what makes such transfers a less risky gamble than those we have engaged in during recent seasons. Having a good team always puts you in a position of power.

                      You think so?

                      London press and all that?
                      Oh I don't know.

Yes and panic buying is the fast route to failure

I think there is a bit of that but also stories are coloured by the teams trajectory. United have been the top team for ages, minor failings are easy to ignore. We have been struggling relative to expectations for a while so a narrative of failings/stupidity is easier to write and sounds more credible.

Now you have asked me, I am not sure. I guess I am a little paranoid about the rags, as they very rarely write anything positive about us

i have no doubt we'd get a much less bumpy ride if we'd won the league with our big overpaid signing. the fact is berba was a success, at least in the short to medium term.
