I hate them, its a total lottery. Id much rather see extended playing time, or something similar to Hockey Penalties.

what do you mean by hockey penalties?

is it field hockey? if so a penalty flick is much the same as a penalty in football. a penalty corner (people who play call it a short corner) would not look that great in footy.

I think he means Ice Hockey. IIRC, it's just the player and the goalie on the ice and the players has to take it from the half way line before scoring.

I'd also like to see the rules changed so that hitting the woodwork counts as a goal, and hitting the net doesn't. It takes much more skill to hit the post/crossbar

Instead of focusing on penalties, they should bring back the Golden Goal rule. That way, both teams would attack during extra time rather than the boring dross served up since they ditched that and the Silver Goal rule.

Disagree. Teams are not going to commit players forward knowing that being over exposed at the back could instantly lose them the game.

They did a trial run with this idea once iirc, i remember Robbie Keane taking one, not long after he joined Inter Milan, he had to run at goal with the ball rather than the usual spot kick, he missed, twice! after being given a re-take due to keeper infringement.
