Some scholars maintain they were Welsh. The truth is, nobody knows.

Seriously though, they've progressed over the last few years and it's the mentality they're renowned for that will give them the edge on this time around, sometimes shaky defense notwithstanding.

      Alba

      Alonso
      Xavi
      Iniesta

      Silva
      Mata
      Llorente

others- Reina, Busquet, Fabregas, Torres, Cazorla

I posted this in another thread too. Whichever selection you make, whichever formation you pick they are far superior.

England have no chance with Roy. Portugal are hopeless, Italy just got pumped 3-0 by russia. Germany have a good squad and will challange but i have doubts about them defensively and the dutch are not always effective. France are on a good run but i dont think they have team spirit to beat one of the top teams

      I'll go with Spain
Busquets will definitely start and Iniesta will be among the front three IMO.

But yeah I agree with you - best players, best first XI, amazing strength in depth. The only negative is the weight of expectation and history.

I just can't see past Spain. After them I have got a little feeling for Italy. But that really depends on which Ballotelli turns up.

It's really hard to win three tournaments in a row. Even if they're the best side, I'm not sure Spain will have that edge to them. Have a feeling someone will park the bus and sneak a goal against them like the Swiss did, but this time it will be in the knock out stages.

Tough one this, some really good sides in the tournament, the 3 that jump out are the Dutch, Germany and obviously Spain.

I think the Dutch might do it this time and go one further than the WC

Spain for me beating Germany in the final.

If they are on form I can't see anyone matching them.

Surprised no one is going for Argentina! I know they got destroyed in WC 2010 against Germany and got knocked out of the copa america (despite being at home) but they have been playing a lot better lately and Messi's scoring is becoming more consistent. In fact he's just scored against Ecuador.

Messi, Aguero, Tevez, Higuain - probably the best attack of any international side.

just kidding, I think the dutch will cruise through this...

                              you can't be serious?
Talking about Argentina, can we have a World cup qualifiers thread as it's started.
Anyone know who scored the goal for Uruguay?
