I thought the group threads would become bloated and confusing, and thus a separate match thread.

I think having a thread for each match is better than having one thread per group. It's just more well-arranged and easier to find stuff, instead of going through several pages to find the game in question?

Hm, I just finished my only beer, now I want more.
