Messi is the best player I've ever seen Maradonna was outrageously good there is no doubting that but IMO Messi is the more complete player.

Messi is fantastic but the he just revisits what his idol did before.

Some things the great Messi doesn't have to contend with is;

a) uneven, bumpy football pitches
b) heavy footballs
c) defenders being allowed to kick the **** out of you

for these reasons alone its impossible to compare across generations.

How good is Messi's Argentina side? How good is his Barca side?
How good was Maradona's Napoli or Argentina sides? Winning the world cup, almost single handedly, is a pretty good measure of his ability and influence.
