His movement was very good, but then it's always been good - it's what he does with the ball that's the problem.

He did fluff his lines, but then what of Balotelli? That one on one chance wasted was a comedy gold moment.
Torres shows glimpses of what he previously was and will deliver the occasional moment of briliance, however it is now patently clear that he will never be the force he once was on a consistent basis.
How can yesterdays terrible misses be down to a lack of confidence? He was buzzing at the end of last season and seemed to indicate this himself. No more excuses for him I am afraid."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." Bob Paisley

I thought his movement deserted him at Chelsea for a while. It's been coming back. With that midfield behind him he will keep getting chances. I really think in that team one goal would see him looking good. The fear/hesitation is clear at the minute, but he tried some ambitious efforts too which I think is a sign of returning confidence.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostHis movement was very good, but then it's always been good - it's what he does with the ball that's the problem."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

I don't really agree with that. The game yesterday was very similar to most of his Chelsea games.Originally posted by dww View PostI thought his movement deserted him at Chelsea for a while. He came on for the best team in the world with the game stretched, with fresh legs, and ran about. I honestly don't think he did any more in that game than David Ngog would have done. Some people are being very generous.

This was a great game to watch, was a bit bewildered as to why Lllorente wasn't starting, Spain played very narrowly and this helped Italy more easily defend them. Alba had a better second half and finally provided some width for Spain as did Navas, but i couldnt help but wonder whether the result would have been different had a proper striker and perhaps a more conventional wing forward ie Pedro had have been started.
Can't take anything away from the Italians though, Marchisio and Motta were great. The likes of Pirlo and Di Natale only seem to improve with age. Pirlo in particular bossed it, he has got to be one of the greatest players Italy has ever produced.
Still think Sergio Ramos is very over-rated and a bit of a liability at centre back, if Balotelli had have felt like scoring he would have been left with a face to match his jersey.Y.N.W.A!!!!!!

Just so much quality around him, even though they don't really play to his strengths, and it would complete a truly weird 4 years since he got the winner in the Euro 2008 final.

that lob was ****ing atrocious tho
torres on fire....would of hit it first time and scored
torres playing well...would have took the touch he did, steadied himself and scored
torres struggling a bit...would have steadied himself, got some composure and then laid it into was it iniesta to score
torres out of form ...would have gone for it first time and just missed and been unlucky
what he did....was just ****ing ****e...alehouse effort
