I like Germany, always have. Their football is so effective, direct and purposeful. And I love the place too, I generally root for them when Scotland aren't about. So every time nowadays really.
The thing is, I've just had a long chat with the (German) ladies, it's not just the football, it's not just the sport. It's the whole culture. They're technocrats. It's seeking perfection. They build the best cars in the world. They create technology of the 22nd century. It's ingrained in the culture. When you get a get a train and it's 5 minutes late, you complain to whomever gives a ****. The Germans are such professionals, such perfectionists, losing is not an option.

On top of that, there's none of the whole celebrity ****. No one knows where the players live, they don't go around doing celebrity 'come into my house and watch the millions', but it's not just them, it's everyone. There's a baker in our village, he's a multimillionaire, he's got 20-30 bakeries in the region, he's ****ing loaded. He lives a couple of hundred yards away in a relatively normal house, you never see him going around waving his money. No one goes around waving money, it's all about merit. And when you've worked hard as **** and you've 'made it', you work even harder. It's a brilliant way of life and I've really missed it. They're modest and they have humility. It's kind of the whole Rafa way of management, there's always room for improvement. I love that, they never rest on their laurels. Wait for the 2nd half, they'll really come out guns blazing, they won't sit back, they'll go for goals 3 and 4. They fear no one.

Gomez's movement has been fantastic, and his finishing too, but the keeper should have stopped the second one. He was on his way down before he'd even hit it.

He's the striker. That's his job. That's how they train him. Schweinsteiger is the provider. That's his job. That's how they train him. No ****ing leaving it to chance. This is professionalism to the max.

It's not dumbass. Look at WC 2010. Look at Euros 2008. Look at the WC 2006. Any tournament in the past 20 years and the Germans. The Germans are a highly successful team, one of the most successful of all time. That doesn't happen by mere coincidence. You go the English whilst I watch the Germans cruise into the semis.

Good save there to deny Germany a 3rd
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

                              Heitinga is a shambles

Germany press in numbers and do the same while attacking, its basically impossible unless you're Messi to attack on your own without runner dragging the back 4 about yet Holland play as individuals. As for defending, Heitinga is wank.
