Sorry but those are the same excuses that were used last summer to justify the signings of Adam, Downing and Henderson. Dempsey is 29 years old and playing for Fulham, there's a reason for that. He would also want big wages and if he comes here and flops he'll end up just being another over the hill wage drainer like Joe Cole etc.

Sometimes I get the feeling that if we signed Kevin Nolan plenty of our fans would argue all day that he would improve us.

Oh and on your hindsight point I knew from day one that Carroll, Downing, Henderson and Adam were atrocious signings and that we could easily have signed superior players last summer for reasonable fees and wages despite not having CL football.

            What?!? Just heard the....

In all seriousness, I don't think he's a world beater, but he scores from midfield and we need goals.

That's because it's impossible to look forward in hindsight.
              .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

                Has he signed yet?
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

No, but it was easy enough to identify the signings we made last summer as substandard without hindsight.

You'll notice an IF at the start of my post.

I am sure they'll want far more than that for him and if that's the case then not worth it but IF he was available at that sort of price then it would be a good move for us.

He does only have a year left on his current contract

You should look forward to looking back in anger, it makes you think back and reflect.

And to think it was only last year FluxKev was blasting posters, posting off topic. Who'd have thunk a year later, he'd be joining in the inane...err, ness with Ronanm taking his place.

I'm dead against signing Dempsey, look at last years debacle signing supposedly the best players from lower to midtable clubs and we drop towards midstable. Dempsey is another Adam, a player which the entire team is build around to play to their strengths.

He will not be afforded that luxury here.
