His alround play is far from good enough for what we are aspiring for.Originally posted by paulc View Posti was a season ticket holder at fulham last season and it was a toss up for player of season between him and dembele

he can be frustrating but may get the odd goal and move us up the tableOriginally posted by Mattshark View PostHis alround play is far from good enough for what we are aspiring for.
remember we need to build a platform of CL qualification before we can go look for top stars. we are currently not a top club

But they are Barcelona, they can sign anybody they want, everyone wants to play for them.Originally posted by kris90210 View PostBarca have just signed Alba for not much more than £10 mil. He's a decent player, no doubt. But we need to show far more ambition in the transfer market.

Barcelona do have a distinct advantage over other clubs, but we're hardly Wimbledon. We're an attractive club in our own right. The bottom line is we need to show some serious ambition or risk falling even further behind. I've listed some selling points below.Originally posted by cream View PostBut they are Barcelona, they can sign anybody they want, everyone wants to play for them.
Reasons to play for LFC:
- We're historically one of the biggest and most successful clubs in the world. International managers want players to be playing at the top clubs. LFC undoubtedly falls inside this category.
- While we're not in the Champions League, we are in Europe next season. Which is better than nothing!
- Anyone coming in will join a core of world class players. Who wouldn't want to play with Suarez, Gerrard, Agger, Johnson, Lucas and Reina? Especially Gerrard, who I've seen cited as a hero for more than one player.
- New manager, new project. The idea of starting a new project can appeal to players. Especially bearing in mind the style of football Rodgers is looking to implement.
- Fairly recent success. It's not like we have to cast our minds back that far to recall success. 2-3 years ago and were right up there. We have fallen away in that time, but I think most players will think of LFC in fairly positive terms.
- Money talks. While we're not Chelsea or City rich, the owners have shown they're willing to spend big on the 'right' players. Ok, so the 'right' players seem to have been the 'wrong' players, but Dalglish and Comolli have paid the price for that. I don't think FSG will change their philosophy.
- Playing opportunities. There are quite a few spots in the team up for grabs at the moment. We may well be able to guarantee more first team football than a club like Chelsea / Man City, which could swing things in our favour.
Ultimately, I wouldn't really want us to sign a player who didn't want to play for us (no matter how good). I'm sure there are plenty of very good players out there who would jump at the chance of joining us.K ris90210

If true its a bit of a coincidence isn't it? I mean the owners have mentioned him and he was linked last season, and now all of a sudden the new manager is interested....who's making the decisions here?Originally posted by Bender View PostRodgers has made a second enquiry about 29-year-old attacking midfielder Dempsey who has just a year to run on his Fulham contract.
