He's been very very good throughout even more so the last 2 games. Best DM in the world.

      Are we winning?

Found the punditry and commentary last night woeful. No one seemed to have done any research, they seemed to believe that Spain should just blow everyone away and play more like England only good at everything. The analysis seemed totally unsuitable for what Spain were trying to do and in many cases actually achieving.

Through the 90 minutes they looked to be wearing Portugal down. Both teams put in excellent defensive performances in that period of the game. Keown kept harping on about the lack of movement from Spain but they often had options, certainly more than other teams would have made against Portugal playing that well. Sometimes staying in the right play is the best choice.

Alan Brazil labelled Spain a disgrace this morning for their tactics. Some other guy (journo) slagged them off for their cynical challenges when they lost the ball. Someone phoned in and called them boring (in general - not just in relation to last night's game).

Okay admittedly last night's game wasn't the greatest - Spain didn't seem to click although a lot of credit for that has to go to Portugal, but **** me there are some morons out there. Are they really sitting there slagging off one of the greatest international teams? Yet they were all no doubt really proud of the England boys and their great lion-heart displays. ARGH!

Its getting popular to hate Spain

Journalists and pundits starting to label them as 'boring' is a joke, Rory Smith was pulling people up on it yesterday saying just because they don't play with a striker doesnt make them boring and how LFC lined up against Arsenal once with 4 strikers but created nothing

A mate of mine doesnt like them because of the 'diving and play acting' and another one started putting the boot into Del Bosque saying he was tactically inept. The winner of La Liga, Champions League, World cup and Euro 2012 finalists is tactically inept

Despite Spain's 'tactics' they still created way more chances than Portugal, who apart from free kicks that Ronaldo blazed over (as he usually does) they had one shot on goal! (Missed by Ronaldo)

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

To give a bit of balance, Spain do roll around more than most other European teams. And they certainly were boring last night. Using hodgson's England as a contrast doesn't change that.

That is generally how football works though isn't it? People hate the teams who are better and more successful than theirs.

Portugal also had a couple of days extra rest. That's massive in competitions like this. Spain do look ragged but they have so much quality in the squad. It's ridiculous. Pedro is awesome and doesn't get to start.

I've changed my opinion on this. I think the best way to put it is this: Spain are not boring, but games involving Spain frequently are. Opposition teams are constantly set up to disrupt them and in the end they keep getting past them. When opposition open up or get tired Spain are thrilling to watch.

The weird perspective of the comments from the English press is quite depressing, but the worry of it is that some recent ex-players like Keown are part of it. It appears that a lot of people in/around the game still haven't managed to look beyond the PL (and perhaps lower leagues) for ways to think about the game.
