          So Gareth Bale was unable to play for team GB due to injury but scored for Spurs in a friendly last night

          All this after signing a new contract hmmmmmm

            I find it very strange he's done this, I mean you're not going to get many chances to play for team GB at the Olympics.

              But if you don't want to, that doesn't really matter.

                Or at many tournaments given that he is Welsh

                    I think he did

                    Spent a load of time in the buildup saying how much he wanted to play and was looking forward to it.

                    He also did a load of PR and was at the kit launch

                    Why bother doing all that if you were not interested?

                      Robbie Savage, BBC Radio 5 liveLONDON 2012

                      "So a legend like Giggs plays for the GB Team, but Bale who pulls out with injury scores for Spurs last night. Is that right?"

                      ~~~
                      Robbie, is that the same legend that always pulled out of Wales games with injuries but played the next weekend.
                        Nowt to do with GB team but the woman South Korea refused to take the field because they showed the north Korean flag on the screen. What a **** up. (I could have it the wrong way round but you get the gist...)
                          N Koreans walk off after flag row
                          The North Korean women's football team have walked off the pitch at Hampden Park in Glasgow after their images were shown on a screen beside a South Korean flag.
                          Kick-off was scheduled for 19:45 BST. The game started over an hour late.
                          North Korea are playing Colombia in the second of the Olympic matches being held at the ground.
                          Games organisers in London have apologised to North Korean officials for the mistake.
                          The error occurred when a video package was being shown ahead of kick-off, with the North Koreans noticing that their faces were being pictured alongside the South Korean flag.
                          Relations between the two Koreas have been tense since the armistice which brought an end to fighting in the Korean War in 1953.
                          In the men's table tennis tournament next week, the North Korean and South Korean teams will meet each other in the first round matches.
                          A statement released by London 2012 organisers said: "Today ahead of the women's football match at Hampden Park, the South Korean flag was shown on a big screen video package instead of the North Korean flag.
                          "Clearly that is a mistake, we will apologise to the team and the National Olympic Committee and steps will be taken to ensure this does not happen again."
                            This morning John Humphreys interviewed someone on The Today Programme about all this.
                            Humphreys: Well, the Olympics started yesterday. England[1] won...Well, Team GB women's football team won. And the other football team[2] that was supposed to be playing, South Korea[3], almost didn't because there was a blunder. The first big blunder of the Games. The South Korean flag was flashed on screens next to images of the North Korean women's football team because it was they who were actually about to play. They saw that flag, they didn't like it, they left the pitch and stayed in their dressing rooms for an hour. In the end they did return but what a fuss it's caused. And there was an apology. And even the apology wasn't very accurate and that upset them even more!
                            Aidan Carter-Foster[4], Senior Research Fellow in Modern Korea at Leeds University, good morning to you.
                            Expert on Korea: Good morning. Foster-Carter actually but never mind, it's obviously gaffe time.
                            Humphreys: Oh, I do apologise, forgive me.
                            Expert on Korea: Not to worry...
                            [There then followed an interesting enough couple of minutes on the reaction of the North Korean players and their country's relationship with their southern neighbour before...]
                            Expert on Korea: ...a gaffe like this shouldn't have happened but it couldn't really have happened at a worse possible time.
                            Humphreys: Adrian[5] Foster-Carter, thanks very much indeed.
                            [1] It wasn't England, it was GB.
                            [2] It wasn't just England and one other team that played yesterday.
                            [3] Oh John, you idiot, it was North Korea, not South Korea. That gaffe is precisely the story you're supposed to be covering, not repeating.
                            [4] Foster-Carter, not Carter-Foster.
                            [5] Aidan, not Adrian.
                            Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
                              The main conclusion to draw from all of this, is that you clearly have way too much time on your hands
