I can. Pearce has got the balance right and the team is playing well as a unit.

To be fair a lot just believe he's a racist. If you can't boo someone for being a racist then what can you boo about? I know that the truth is different (or at least much more nuanced) but I don't think it's all that bad compared to the treatment meted out to Beckham or Ronaldo on much less serious grounds.

Many of them will probably by The Star, or The S*n and hate immigrants so their views of racism are clouded somewhat.

Wonder how long it took him to figure that out.
He's not called Cleverly for nothing.
                    Oh I don't know.

How long did Beckhams last though? I just get the impression that the Suarez booing will now continue till he leaves this country. Interesting thought though the reality is that we know the ins and outs of the case because he is one of ours. I am sure if it was Rafael on Johnson and it was the exact same premise We would be treating Rafael exactly like everyone was treating Suarez.

Opposing fans dont go into the facts they just believe what is presented to them while glossing over the real facts. To back this up.....I actually thought Hodgson spoke sense and was a decent fella before he came one of ours

I'm not sure thats the case, otherwise they would be booing Stuart Pearce before moving on to Ferdinand, Terry and Frimpong once the season starts.

I suspect it's because he's been cast in the role of swarthy evil pantomine villian.

Jonathan Pearce was at it last night as well.

When Coates had that header that hit Allen in the chest, both Coates and Suarez were appealing for handball, something most players do.

Yet Pearce decided to single Suarez out by mocking him and saying in an almost disgusted tone "Why's he appealing for that, he's behind the player, how could he have possibly seen it"

Well he probably didn't, but he did see Coates appealing and decided to join in, it's what footballers do these days.

I think there is an element of truth to what you say - herd mentality and all that. In general I think people are more forgiving of England players and few people know of/care about Frimpong. Luis has been unfortunate to have been portrayed in a purely bad light. It will be interesting to see how fans treat Terry.

I don't see a place for mens footer in the Olympics. It just doesn't fit in with the hard work and ethics that the majority of athletes have to put in over 4 years for their one chance at fame within their chosen discipline. Mens football has so much exposure and there are so many trophies available that it just seems totally pointless, and surely it is taking away from the headlines of the less glamourous and more traditional Olympic sports. Sorry Pearcey and Giggsy I just couldn't care less.
