Lecter, if you accept that we are doing something right when we win, why can't people still accept the same when we lose? If we'd been losing 4 or 5 games on the trot then that would have been a case to argue about, but what I see is a very inconsistent team which is still being built and put together.

Allen has got plenty of good attributes. I just think that people are nit picking what they see fit and don't like in his game. It's been done time and again with Gerrard.

So we should all shut up and accept what we see / think irrespective

You think hes got good attributes thats fair enough I accept that, I think his flaws far out-weigh his "good attributes" and that playing him is to the detriment of our team

You can be more consistent if you put out the right team, with the right tactics

It depends what his true level is

Is his true level the half a dozen games early on in the season when he played well or is it what we are seeing now

Maybe the first few games was his "purple patch" and thats as good as it ever gets and that this is the normal level he plays at

They are 2 completely different players and there is no point of trying to compare them in any way.

About 22 games in should give you a pretty decent idea of a player. Especially considering he has already had a season (supposedly a very good season according to the 'experts') in this league. And in the first couple of months he was nice and tidy but I think we went way overboard on how good he was, much like we have been with young Raheem.

22 Games and many many many quailty Premiership Players would have been bombed out of their respective teams. RVP, Bale heck Even when we had Crouch.

I agree we paid over the odds and I do hope some of these players including Allen are Stepping stones to better players like City did initally. I have doubts thou.

Mascherano for me would be a perfect comparison to Allen and the difference in aggression is ridiculous.

Exactly The threads and posts prove that. Alonso was slated for a large part of one season. One season wonder, sell now.

My bad. I think I missed that change in direction/opinion. We seem to change quite frequently in our views of our players.
