This comes pretty much the day after Abidal got the all clear after his treatment.

Gutted at this news. Only just seen it and thought it was a hoax. Everything about Vilanova as a coach has been positive and then this happens.

Hopefully, he'll come back and prove what an outstanding head coach he has proven to be so far.

Tito Vilanova: Barcelona head coach to have surgery
Barcelona head coach Tito Vilanova will undergo surgery on Thursday followed by chemotherapy and radiotherapy over the next six weeks.

Vilanova had an operation to remove a cancerous tumour from a gland in his upper neck in November 2011.

"While monitoring his parotid gland a change has been detected in his condition that requires surgery," a Barcelona statement said.

"The time of hospitalisation is expected to be three or four days."

The statement added: "According to how things develop, he could be able to mix work with his treatment."

I think it would always be difficult for Pep to come in now, Tito is the man now and they can't undermine that if he comes back later in the season or next summer.
          * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Sounds like Mourinho has dropped Casillas for tonights game.

That won't go down well, didn't realise they're 13 points behind Barca. Think he might be on his way very shortly

Last acts of a desperate man struggling to keep power. Its over and it could not have happened to a nicer person.

Well he's dropped him, last act as manager I think.

Is there anyone about who they would really want? I wouldn't be surprised if they left him in place until the end of the season. Give him a chance in the CL.

Perhaps, I think his position as manager is done but your right they may hang on until the summer but dropping iker casillas might well lead to a situation the board have to step in and fix, money would be on iker casillas winning any stand off

                              I like him a lot.

Yep, and with Malaga being banned from Europe now and needed to finance debt he may well be leaving as early as the summer.

City have been interested I think, remember seeing somewhere anyway.
