It sure is. That was the look of pure delight for Sahin. Long may it last.

BRENDAN RODGERS believes Nuri Sahin has added a new dimension to Liverpool FC since his arrival at the club – but admits he is unsure whether the on-loan midfielder will remain at Anfield beyond the end of the current campaign.

Sahin arrived on Merseyside after signing a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid back in August, and has scored three goals in his last two games, impressing with his drive, passing ability and control from the middle of midfield. He netted his first Premier League strike in Saturday’s 5-2 win at Norwich City.

Liverpool have first refusal on the 24-year-old should Real look to offload him on a permanent basis next summer, but Rodgers says it is too early to say whether Sahin will remain with the club at this stage.

He said: “I don’t look beyond the loan period because there are lots of things which will determine whether he ever comes here.

“One has to be availability. Jose (Mourinho, the Real Madrid manager) may decide after one year playing that he is really the type of player he wants around his squad.

“Two: He might not be affordable. Affordability is important as well. We’d all love Lionel Messi but whether you can afford him or he’s available is another thing.

“All I can concentrate on is Sahin coming in here and helping him become the best player he can possibly be. If he finds he enjoys it here and he fits into the way we work, which I am sure he would do because he is a good guy and understands the game tactically and is prepared to fight for the club, then that is something come the end of the season we will talk about.

“But at this stage it is way too early. He is just starting to get up to speed fitness-wise but he has a wonderful left foot and the ability to score a goal. He’s a master technician with the ball and he’s hungry; he was the captain of Borussia Dortmund at a very young age so he’s got those natural leadership qualities as well.”

          LOL

Fergie's dream target would be midfielder Kaka, after he aborted a bid for the Brazilian in the summer. And the temptation to wreck Liverpool's hopes of tying up a permanent deal for on-loan star Nuri Sahin is becoming increasingly attractive, following the Turkish international's recent impressive performances.

Brendan Rodgers should be given time to put Liverpool back on top of the English game, believes midfielder Nuri Sahin.

The Turkish midfielder was snapped up by Rodgers from Real Madrid on a season-long loan during the summer and has stressed it was the former Swansea City manager who convinced him to land at Anfield.

Sahin, who saw first hand Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp transform the Ruhr giants into Bundesliga champions, can see similarities at Liverpool, but he does believe that Rodgers’ project must be bought into and he must be given the chance to shape his side.

Time then, is crucial for Sahin.

"It will take time to take Liverpool back to where it wants to be", the Turkey international told Liverpool FC Magazine.

"When Klopp came we did not have a squad to be champions", he said, thinking back to his Dortmund days.

"He changed a lot, bringing his own philosophy in. It took a while for everybody to follow it.

"He had to be calm and consistent. If you go on this way, in the first two or three weeks, okay, you might not get the results, but in the long-term it will go your way if you don’t change it.

"The club gave Klopp the time to do this and it worked out very well.

"But as a character he is a person who relates to the player. I can see Brendan doing the same. Brendan’s character was very influential in me coming here."

Interestingly, Klopp was approached by Liverpool in the summer to discuss the then-vacant manager’s post at Anfield, but turned down the chance to speak to the Reds.

Sahin left Dortmund for Real Madrid last year, but managed just 128 minutes of playing time in La Liga under Jose Mourinho, leading him to look for a loan option to boost his minutes on the pitch ahead of a return to Spain.

Liverpool midfielder Nuri Sahin has backed manager Brendan Rodgers to turn the Reds' season around and drastically improve on results from recent seasons. The Turkish international, on loan from Spanish champions Real Madrid, compared the former Swansea City manager with Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund.

"It will take time to take Liverpool back to where it wants to be. When Klopp came we did not have a squad to be champions. He changed a lot, bringing his own philosophy in. It took a while for everybody to follow it," the 23 year old told the Reds' official Web site, explaining the change in Dortmund's fortunes after the former Mainz 05 defender took charge at Signal Iduna Park.

The 23 year old Sahin played under Klopp between 2005 and 2011 and emerged as the driving force behind the club's 2010/11 league triumph. It was his performances in that season and under the 45 year old Klopp that earned Sahin the move to the Santiago Bernabeu last season.

Unfortunately, Sahin was injured when he arrived in Madrid and since recovery has not found enough form to force either Spain international Xabi Alonso or German midfielder Sami Khedira from the starting line-up. The Turkish international, however, is reportedly still considered an important member of the club's future plans and Mourinho agreed to a loan move to Liverpool help rebuild the player's fitness, form and confidence.

"He had to be calm and consistent. If you go on this way, in the first two or three weeks, okay, you might not get the results, but in the long-term it will go your way if you don't change it. The club gave Klopp the time to do this and it worked out very well," Sahin said about Klopp, adding, "But as a character he is a person who relates to the player. I can see Brendan doing the same. Brendan's character was very influential in me coming here."

However, if Rodgers is indeed to live up to Sahin and the fans' expectations, drastic improvement is needed. The Reds have suffered one of their worst ever starts to the league season in the Northern Irishman's debut campaign. The Anfield club are presently 14th in the league, with six points from seven games (and only one win so far).

Nevertheless, if Sahin's first few performances in the club's colours are anything to go by, Liverpool fans have much to look forward to. The Real Madrid player has made only five appearances so far but has already scored thrice and with Rodgers desperately in need of a striker, it might not be far-fetched to stick the Turk up front, alongside Uruguayan Luis Suarez and see if he can't add to that tally.

I can't be the only one who wants him to not do totally amazing this season? If he sets the league alight, we can kiss good bye to him.

We need to keep players like Nuri. Hopefully there is an option to buy.
