lol, a few days ago we were looking to make the deal permanent
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

The midfield has been awful for most of the season

Aye, just goes to show you can't believe either report from the media.
All we do know is that what he offers us at the moment, and for whatever reason (be in out of position, manager not liking him etc), he is certainly not worth 90k a week of our money the way things are going.

if this is the case then it seems he possibly wasnt a rodgers signing. if he was then im sure he'd have been played in his correct position. alternatively he really isnt arsed about being here

There is an article on the offal today that says he's recovering from injury (an operation on his nose). So it could just be journos adding 2 + 2 together and coming up with shenanigans
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

But he was on the bench for Fulham at home and then vanished again. Did his nose have a relapse?

Anyone who has ever had a serious nose injury knows that the risk of a nose relapse is significantly higher than any other body part! Just ask Daniella Westbrook!

And Pepe made the bench with his dodgy hammy then went missing so Rodgers has form (unlike Sahin )

Re Pepe that was an emergency wasn't it, as Gulacsi injured his finger leaving us no sub keeper so Pepe agreed to sit on the bench.

I was going to say something about having Joe Cole on the bench all the time too but thought that might be a little flippant

But I don't get it. I think I'll cling the re-occurring injury line because I think he's great and I want him to stay, get fit and be great for us (as I'm convinced he would be if he went somewhere else).

Maybe part of the thinking was that he could cover for Lucas, something which many feel contributed to our decline over the second half of last season.

Assuming injury isn't a reason and there is truth in the rumours about him leaving, then clearly Rodgers doesn't think Sahin, like Coates, would improve the team or else he has some other nefarious reason (wages, etc.) for getting rid. Either way he could be wrong on both of them but I don't fully understand why some seem so keen to set more store in their own judgment than his. And if it is financially motivated, then it still seems a rational view to save money on players who aren't even making the bench.
                              .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I think this is pretty easy to understand it in this instance. The midfield has been the least functional part of the team this season. It's been all over the place at times, and yet we have a (possibly) world class midfielder not even on the bench. It seems to be the obvious solution to the problem, at least to try.

As you say, we don't know how fit he is, or whether he has declined to such an extent that playing him would be a further backward step. That's the manager's call, and he doesn't have to explain himself to us.
                                Oh I don't know.
