    Bascombe

He is unlikely to be the only departure from Anfield this month. Nuri Sahin – signed on loan amid a degree of fanfare from Real Madrid last August – is also free to end his spell prematurely.

The Turkish midfielder has struggled to adapt to English football and has been relegated to the bench. Fulham have joined the chase to take him on loan, with former club Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan also showing interest.

As with Cole, ending Sahin’s spell at Anfield will enable Rodgers to divert resources towards players he wants to recruit, rather than those inherited or thrust upon him.

Don't know if they've been linked, but if Sahin went and we brought in either an enforcer like M'Vila, or a playmaker like Isco or Eriksen, I'd be very pleased. As Nuri just hasn't worked out.

Sensible. I'd prefer an enforcer personally and I really hope that is what Brendan has in mind.

Maybe that's the idea, rather than a realisation of Sahin's non adaptability to the league. With how our midfield is shaping up, I don't think we need a player of Sahin's type.
          Are we winning?

I'm not sure the above is necessarily true but I think we needed someone mobile and capable of covering for Gerrard. Henderson has given nice balance to the midfield of late and with Allen in the squad i don't think there is a role for Sahin really.

I feel a bit sorry he didn't get more of a chance as the deepest midfielder as he looked at his best when played there in Europe.

In a way I agree with the spirit of some of the comments though - we need our midfield to impose itself on others and Nuri always seemed a bit reactive to me.

I was really made up that we signed him but this is like a good substitution and I think if we bring in someone who will genuinely change the dynamic of the team and perform in the PL then kudos to Rodgers.

If anything this signing tells players that we still have some sway.

Gutted at this. Absolutely superb player who needed a run of games in his proper position. I mean, I'm not talking about a good player, but a once world class player before his injury.

It's amazing really - *if true* you have to wonder how on earth that was possible.

Dunno about Chang. But that line from Bascombe's article was interesting.

Assaidi was rumoured to be a Chang signing, until one of Barrett's articles (think it was him) said it was the committee's decision. Maybe Sahin was the same.

I didn't think 'the committee' was in place at the time we signed Assaidi and Sahin?

Either way, it does appear Rodgers didn't choose them himself.
