I dont detest him and I am not sure many that there are that many who detest him.
I think he got a new deal under Dalglish, this means he probably got an over-inflated deal like many others did in that period
I cant blame him for trying to hang in there and trying to get what he can out of it. What I do not like is the fact he is standing in the way of other up and coming players and their progression
....and another thing. Taking him along might make think he has a chance of staying.
We need people to see Spearing if we are to sell him.
Do you honestly think people scout players in preseason friendlies? I think Championship clubs will be looking at the videos of how he played last season.
Personally I hoped we wouldn't go down the some route we have in previous years of giving game time to total **** that we are looking to sell or move on it's counter productive, under what possible circumstance are we going to need Spearing next season? What is he 24 or 25? He's hardly a young kid with potential he isn't even close to being good enough even as a squad player and this is when he should be at his peak

I can see why you say that but people like Hodgson and Redknapp have been known to say things indicating they don't believe anything until they have seen a player 'in the flesh'.
I don't agree that it is necessarily counter productive to use players that we intend to sell. We may well want the most developed players out there to improve training. It is possible we also feel that young players who aren't in first team contention just yet benefit more from the development work in the academy and getting settled into routines for the new season.

Maybe he'll do an Aqualani and be our best player in pre-season, get our hopes up so that we're all talking about how he could be a vital player this year, take away the chance for one of our youngsters to shine and then be sold when we're not expecting it.
Nah, if it was an Aquilani situation we'd loan him out somewhere
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
DOUGIE Freedman has pledged Wanderers will do everything possible to sign fans' choice Jay Spearing.
During Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Burnley the 2,500 travelling Whites supporters made their voices heard, urging the club to bring back the Liverpool midfielder who had been such a hit on loan last season.
Blackburn Rovers have already agreed a fee for Spearing this summer only for the 24-year-old to turn down a move to Ewood Park.
And though that figure is currently out of Wanderers’ reach, Freedman assured fans the club would be doing its level best to strike up a deal before the close of the transfer window in four week’s time. “Jay is a fantastic player – our player of the season last year – he’s available and we’re going to try our very, very best to make it happen,” the manager said.
“We’ve got Financial Fair Play and I have got a responsibility to this football club. I know they (fans) don’t want to hear it, but I have.
“We’ve done very well with free transfers and if something with Jay comes up and the deal is right for the football club then, yes, we’ll be looking at it.”
A massive 96 per cent of Wanderers fans voted in favour of a move for Spearing in a recent poll by The Bolton News.
And Freedman has made no secret of the fact he needs to strengthen in midfield, particularly in light of Stuart Holden’s recent season-ending injury. The Whites boss now hopes he can reward supporters who he believes have bought into his philosophy at the club. “I need to sit in the technical area making decisions – I can’t be in the crowd making decisions,” he said. “But I’ll never forget last year making those decisions and the fans not being that happy.
“I just feel now that we are a club who are educated in the right way. We are not a pushover. First minute to the last and a few minutes after the fans were behind us singing and I get a good feeling that I can build on.”
What do you mean it could've been anyone? Name me one person who's got a grudge against penguins
