I'm not even sure he is a nice guy, meant to be a real arrogant **** from some reports I've read refusing to sign kids autographs etc as he thought it was beneath him. His arm flapping on the pitch really winds me up.

If we can get anything for him and off the wage bill it will be a result, championship player at best

Jay Spearing is set to undergo a medical at Bolton Wanderers this afternoon after the SkyBet Championship side agreed a deal with Liverpool for the midfielder.

Spearing spent last season on loan at the Reebok Stadium, making 39 appearances and picking up the club's Player of the Year award, and Wanderers manager Dougie Freedman has been keen to make the move a permanent one.

The fee at this stage is undisclosed, but is expected to be close to the £1.75m Liverpool agreed with Blackburn Rovers last month. That move fell through with Spearing unconvinced about the merits of a move to Ewood Park.

Spearing featured for Liverpool in their pre-season friendly win over Valerenga on Wednesday evening, but is now expected to travel to the Reebok for a medical, with personal terms unlikely to be an issue. The move could be completed in time for Bolton's league clash at home to Reading on Saturday.

Wallasey-born Spearing made a total of 55 appearances for the Reds after making his debut in a Champions League tie at PSV Eindhoven in December 2008.
