So in theory we could have bought neither of the donkeys and we'd have been no worse off.
True, but that nothing to do with the point I was making. Namely, that Ince playing well at Blackpool now is not a useful indicator that he would have been a success for Liverpool now or in the future.
    Oh I don't know.

the fact people want him back says more about how weve gone down than him improving

I disagree, he has improved, people haven't been wanting him back, more so i'd say with hindsight its disappointing to look back at charlie adams short stint at the club and think 'we busted our balls to land him and gave away a decent prospect in the process'

you're right, playing well for Blackpool in the championship is obviously not the benchmark for players to be considered successful but at 20 years of age, it is more than most of his equals are doing.

Not too much love for him here and seems the club didn't have much choice.

Ince has come on a bundle for playing regular first team football - he wasn't playing well for our reserves and at the time there wasn't much call to keep him. Hindsight is a wonderful thing - although I didn't need that to realise Downing was a terrible signing.

You can see why managers like Rafa really want B teams in a proper competition. As the economy gets worse I think there may be an opportunity for clubs to come up with something that will help get young players time in first team squads of lower league teams. Too many are close to going to the wall for innovation to be a problem. The normal loan scheme often doesn't help clubs though so something with more buy in will have to happen (the best example of this would be Norwich during their Championship relegation season - lots of loan players, played excellent football but had no fight).

Hammill was the best player in the Championship for a while too. I still don't think Ince is good enough, despite how well he is playing, but then again I thought Downing would do well for us.

                              .
                              .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Most players we let go seem to find their level in the championship, not many if any have gone onto better things
