Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (goalscorer, more prolific than ba, and worth around the 7 mill mark with contract expiring). Will be 30 next summer. Struggled in both the big leagues. I'm a fan but not worth the money at this stage.


Fernando Llorente (28 mill release clause will never be met. he's in last months of a contract and the parent club are desperate for cash. Easily see him go for 7-9 mill). Again, if we aren't selling Andy C yet, why have a similar player at your disposal?

Christian Tello or Bojan (both young and not playing - tello more so now - but easily available on loan for fees well less than the 7 mill). Good luck getting Tello at 7m or whatever fee. He doesn't want to leave Barca right now. He has bene getting games this season.

Bojan - Massively struggled in the Italian League. Not worth the risk again. He doesn't add anything to us that Borini doesn't.

Daniel Sturridge (see previous - we wanted loan deal in summer, he's interested - apparently - and would cost 7-10 mill not the 15 some media reporting), Theo Wlacott (contract expiring etc...)

IMO all these players above are either more prolific, more experienced, better suited to our game than ba.

Sturridge and Walcott are the realistic choices but Walcott wants 100k/wk and I don't think we will meet that unless BR really wants him. Sturridge is the one that is probably close to what we need (wide forward).

Ba on the other hand is a CF.

He is proven goal scorer and if would pass the medical and I'd take him.

His movement in and around the box is very good and he doesn't need lot of space and knows how to put the ball in the back of the net.

When Cisse got in the team he got pushed out wide. Hence the goals drying up. He showed the other day he will continue to plunder the goals if you play him down the middle.

I can't understand why he wasn't our back up plan this summer. We could have had him for 7mil and then Newcastle would have been more desperate for Andy Carroll to return.

The only problem with Signing him in January is the african cup of nations is on at that time right? Could that be why pardew is being so public? As he will also lose cisse should Senegal beat the ivory coast and qualify

If we can get him really cheap and his luck holds (both with his scoring and his dodgy knee) then great. On balance that's less likely than us overpaying for him then he hits the woodwork 18 times before his knee blows and half the Kop are picking bits of cartilege out of their hair.
