But that's not xenophobic though is it? That's the main problem I have with journalists in this country, if you're British you get a free pass no matter how **** you're doing, if not they're after you!

Aye, and it's not just the press, Pabs. The British LMA brigade (AKA "Fergie's Boys") are just as bad.
I saw a journo tweeting his disgust at Solbaaken (sp?) for making 10 changes to his Wolves team last night. I recall Benitez taking similar stick in the league cup. Yet when Mr Ferguson etc do it, they're trying out the youngsters and it's admirable (I suspect Rodgers will get this too, not being a dirty foreigner and all).

Are you serious? Do you really think that's what it is? Have you never noticed this? It happens every single week Alex.Originally posted by Alex View PostWas that not in relation too the fans travelling up and expecting a full strength team? The disgust was more aimed at the fact that if it wasn't going to be full strength the manager should have said well before the game.

Tony Barrett @TonyBarretTimes
1.Clubs should have to declare well in advance if they're planning on fielding an under strength team in cup competitions.Tony Barrett @TonyBarretTimes
2. Fans buying tickets for games go expecting to see the first team & end up watching a depleted line up. They should know in advance.Tony Barrett @TonyBarretTimes
In no other form of customer service would people be treated like the Wolves supporters were last night.Tony Barrett @TonyBarretTimes
@TomNJones They certainly wouldn't. And Benitez said in advance he'd be making plenty of changes. There you go. I was paraphrasing. BadlyTony Barrett @TonyBarretTimes
People are confusing the issue. Managers have every right to make changes. But surely fans have the right to make an informed decision?
*Except Michael, who died.

I'd not seen Barrett's stuff. It was Sam Wallace (I think) slagging of Solbaakken (sp?Originally posted by Alex View PostYeah, Ive seen it loads of times. Its just that I read what Reece did this morning so I put it there.
But non British managers get it all the time.
Imagine if Tony Pulis was Russian or something. He'd be Public Enemy Number 1 with that ****house football he plays.
) last night that I'd seen.

I picked up on it because I didn't think Tone was slagging off Solbakken, more venting his ire at the situation.
Im sorry, Reece. I have made a cunt out of myself here.
Perhaps keep that as your sig, to save time in future

Leeds United v Everton: Seven arrests at Capital One Cup clash
By Sam Casey
Published on Wednesday 26 September 2012 12:35
POLICE said there were “isolated” incidents involving known troublemakers at the game between Leeds United and Everton last night - as tensions continued to run high in the wake of the Hillsborough report.
West Yorkshire Police said there were seven arrests during the course of Tuesday evening in and around Elland Road.
It followed complaints on Twitter and chat forums that officers were heavy-handed during and after the Capital One Cup match, which Leeds won 2-1.
Coming in the wake of the damning report into the Hillsborough disaster, there were reports of fans singing derogatory songs about the police’s role in the tragedy.
Some supporters claimed police subsequently charged them with batons.
A police spokesman said: “The match was not a high risk fixture as there is no history of problems between the two clubs and was policed as a category B fixture as a large crowd was expected for a mid-week fixture.
“The crowd of 21,000 were very well behaved and what trouble occurred was isolated and attributable to the actions of a small minority of visiting supporters numbering no more than 50.
“This group were identified by the travelling Merseyside Police football intelligence officer as being known members of a risk group.”
Police said incidents included: a group of fans being kicked out of the Peacock pub opposite the stadium for “provocative” chanting before the match, which led to one man being arrested for public order offences; smoke bombs being let off in the West stand during the game, leading to the arrest of one man; and trouble in the West stand car park after the game, when fans were again alleged to have been chanting provocatively before being “dispersed by officers assisted by stewards of the club”.
The police spokesman said: “These incidents are not out of the norm for high profile football matches.
“As is our usual practice, our football banning order unit will be reviewing any footage in conjunction with colleagues in Merseyside police with a view to considering football banning orders.
“We are also happy to make our footage available to the Football League should they wish to review any of the behaviour of fans on the night.”
After the game, supporters took to fan forums and Twitter to voice concerns.
On Twitter @FourthOfficial said: “Disturbing scenes outside Elland Road after the game after a clash between Everton fans and Yorkshire police, expect it will unfold more ... Everton fans chanting about the police and Hillsborough, so [police] got the batons out and charged.”
A fan on the official Everton FC web forum Blueroom said: “Considering the sensitivity of situation at the moment you would have thought the Police would have been told to set a good example, and don’t allow anything controversial.”
