It's Harry! Redknapp agrees three year deal to take over as QPR boss
23 Nov 2012 15:39
The former Spurs boss steps into the Loftus Road hot-seat after Mark Hughes was sacked this morning.
Harry Redknapp has agreed a three year deal to take charge of Queens Park Rangers.
Former Spurs boss Redknapp, 65, will be at Old Trafford tomorrow (Saturday) for QPR's clash with Manchester United.
Redknapp has been on QPR's radar for weeks as the club have been rooted to the foot of the Premier League table.
But Redknapp and his advisers had further talks with QPR's hierarchy today and the finer details have been agreed for him to take charge.
But Redknapp will not officially begin work until Monday to leave QPR's current backroom staff Mark Bowen and Eddie Niedzwiecki in charge of the team at Manchester United.
Mirror Sport revealed today that Redknapp was poised to take over and QPR decided to axe Hughes before the trip to Old Trafford rather than leave him in charge which was the original plan.
Hughes was axed at the training ground today and is now negotiating the terms and conditions of his departure.
Redknapp has been out of management since being axed by Spurs in June but Ukraine's interest in appointing him as national boss appears to have smoked out QPR.

That's harsh. He wouldn't have enough time to actually do anything with the team before the game so they'd need to continue with the current coaching anyway. And I don't see why the 'new manager' effect wouldn't apply if he's watching from the stands now they know he's coming. QPR boss Harry Redknapp: "There are a lot of players at this club who earn far too much money for what they are; far, far, far too much money for their ability and what they give to the club.
"I don't really want to see the owners have their pants taken down like they have in the past. There's a lot of agents made money out of them."Fackin' ellQPR boss Harry Redknapp also confirmed that full-back Jose Bosingwa had been fined a fortnight's wages after refusing to sit on the bench for last weekend's 2-1 victory over Fulham.
He said: "He didn't want to be on the bench and didn't want to be a substitute, so he went home.
"He has been fined two weeks' wages, £130,000. Not too bad for two weeks, decent isn't it? Not too bad for playing on a Saturday, it's okay."
Asked how he might handle a player like that, Redknapp said: "We'll find out in January."
