Turkish top flight club Galatasaray has confirmed that they are negotiating a deal that would bring Ivory Coast and former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba to Istanbul.

"Galatasaray Sports Club has begun official negotiations regarding the transfer of Ivorian professional football player Didier Drogba from FC Shanghai Shenhua," the club said on its website.

The 34-year-old left Chelsea for China last year after helping the west London side to their first Champions League title.

Anyone else find it completely shocking that a tiny team nobody has ever really heard of has had problems paying the astronomical salary they offered a gold-digger?

Didier Drogba will turn down a sensational approach to return to Chelsea and sign an 18-month contract with Galatasaray.
Sportsmail can reveal that Roman Abramovich gave the go-ahead last week to offer Drogba a deal until the end of the season, with an option for a further year.

BBC Sport's Simon Austin has spoken to AC Milan spokesman Riccardo Coli who has described reports linking Manchester City's Mario Balotelli with a move to the Milan club as "only rumours". He added no negotiations were taking place.

A chain of transfers could be triggered should Manchester City's Mario Balotelli move to AC Milan.

Italian media report that the defending Premier League champions have already made enquiries about Napoli striker Edinson Cavani. The Italian club are preparing for his departure and have offered AC Milan £24m (30m euros) for rising star Stephan El Shaarawi.

El Sharaawi has said he would love to play with Balotelli: "He's a great player and we have a good understanding."

                        Looks like Balotelli's gone.

If City get Cavani in what an extra attacking option that would be.

Everton are closing in on a move for Holland international midfielder Leroy Fer.

Sportsmail understands Toffees officials are in talks with FC Twente over a swoop for the 23-year-old, known as the Bouncer for his physical appearance.
David Moyes has been a long-term admirer of Fer, having first started watching the central midfielder in 2010. FC Twente value Fer, who joined from Feyenoord in 2011, at around £7million.

Fer is a box-to-box midfielder and has been compared to Arsenal legend Patrick Viera.

His possible arrival casts more doubts over the long-term future at Goodison Park over Marouane Felliani.

Fer hit the headlines last year after splashing out £22,000 on a pet horse for his girlfriend - only to find out that she can't keep it because she lives in a block of fats.

The Holland midfielder made the extravagant purchase at an auction of former race horses.

But his noble gesture fell flat when his other half pointed out that she lives in a block of flats and has no way of accommodating or looking after the stallion called Django. Fer was forced to quickly offload the horse, and become a laughing stock among his team-mates.
