Absolutely scandalous prices for British players. Just no value in this market at all. Surprised FSG haven't said that they aren't going to allow British buys now, bearing in mind how their fingers were burnt previously

I reckon there are better value signings out there than Ince. Newcastle bought about 4 players for around 10-15m and some are internationals

      There's a 12 month extension that they can/have activated.

I don't know why Ince would have agreed to that mind, guess his hands are tied and he doesn't have a choice.

Try for a second to forget the inflated fee we paid for Downing, and instead see Ince as a direct replacement for him. If we could offload Downing for £8-12m and get in Ince for a couple of million less, would people take it?

We’d make money from the exchange and save on wages (Downing’s probably on something like £60,000pw). We’d be getting a younger, hungrier player and – from evidence from the Championship – a player with more end product.

In that context, I think it’s a no brainer.

I think if someone bids for Downing around £8m, Rodgers would sell him in this window. I just don't rate him at all. Mentally weak player

To be honest, I am surprised we aren't in for Butland at the price being quoted and with rumours over Reina. Young with potential and a decent price.

Downing has been on ebay for 9 months, not a jot of a bid yet.

the only way Ince will come this window is if Someone ( come on Harry) takes Drowning off our hands. Crouch and Drowning the dream team to save Qpr!

Ince wants transfer window to close

TOM Ince says he just wants the transfer window to close.

The Blackpool winger, who celebrates his 21st birthday today, has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs this month.

Reading are the latest to join the race, with boss Brian McDermott confirming his club had tabled a bid believed to be around £7m.

Liverpool have made no secret of their interest in resigning Blackpool’s star man, while Swansea have also made enquiries.

Pool chairman Karl Oyston remains determined to keep hold of his prized asset, but The Gazette understands his resolve will be tested again before tomorrow’s deadline.

Liverpool are believed to be ready to make one last move for the star, while Reading may be willing to raise their offer.

And Ince, who fired both Pool’s goals in Saturday’s win at Wolves to take his tally for the season to 15, says he’s looking forward to it all being sorted out.

“I’ll be looking forward to the transfer window closing, one way or another,” he admitted.

“The last few weeks hasn’t been frustrating but it’s not been ideal.

“I’ve never come out and said I wanted to leave this club.

“Right now I’m a Blackpool player and I love playing with a great group of lads who allow me to express myself. All I can do is work hard on the training pitch.”

Ince has remained level-headed amid all the speculation, always insisting it’s out of his hands.

While a big-money move to the Premier League would obviously appeal to him, he’s more than happy to carry on performing at Bloomfiled Road.

He said: “I just have to keep my head down and keep working. I will continue to keep giving everything for Blackpool. Whatever happens, happens.

“If nothing does, I’ll be more than happy to stay here, play for this club and these fans.

“It’s all about working hard, winning games and putting this club back up the table where it should be.”

Reading manager McDermott made the unusual move of commenting on his bid.

The Royals boss said of Ince: “He scores goals, he makes goals.

“He has good feet, he can go left, he can go right, he’s got a great attitude.

“But I’m talking about someone who doesn’t belong to us, so maybe I shouldn’t.”

Before Saturday’s double, Ince had gone 10 games without a goal.

Having topped the Championship’s scoring table earlier in the season, he admitted: “I’ve seen people shoot up the goalscoring charts and I want to catch them.

“I know it’s difficult as they are all out-and-out strikers but my aim has always been to add goals to my game.”

If Ince is about to leave, you wouldn’t know it.

As ever, he continues to talk positively about Blackpool and their chances for the rest of the season.

And he thinks there’s a decent spirit around Bloomfield Road.

“We’ve been together for the last two weeks,” he added.

“Look at the Fulham game (the FA Cup third-round replay) – we were so unlucky they equalised with the last kick.

“Against Cardiff the decisions went the wrong way, but the performances were there.”

“He has good feet, he can go left, he can go right..."

now that's what I call amazing insight from a manager right there... Next he'll be saying he's got good hair, plenty of fingers and a couple of decent thumbs.

He doesn't seem that up for a move to be honest, so can't see him forcing anything. This bid is doomed to fail this month. Time to try and get someone else in.

Wonder if Rodgers will attempt a move for a CB?

In terms of Tom Ince, the situation is pretty clear. LFC value him at £6million, Blackpool want £8million so that's why the deal hasn't happened. I expect LFC to try to re-ignite those talks before tomorrow night but they won't pay £8million. It all hinges on whether Blackpool reduce their demands.

Yep it appears no one is signing Ince in this window (because Oyston is being a complete dick about it as per usual).
