Totally expected, to keep his value up even if he doesn't stay with them
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

My brother in law saw Tom and Paul Ince at Chester races today, said that Paul had a massive belly on him

I predict that if he does stay at Blackpool for another year, they will struggle with Ince as manager, Junior will obviously not do as well and some mid/low PL team will take a punt on him in January.

Hope we don't fall into the mid category.

Why have people gone from rating him highly in this thread, to not really thinking he will cut it. His assists and goals ratio is pretty decent. Not seen much of him, but when I do he impresses me.

Thought as much. Those two things are the cause of most people not being rated

It just strikes me as weird that we can go from thinking he would be a decent youth prospect for us (again) to hoping he will sign for some mid table team in the space of 5-6 months.

Saying that, I really hope he is **** if he doesnt sign for us.

It’s probably through stubbornness, but I’ve been consistent with my thoughts that he’ll not be good enough. I didn’t rate him at academy level, so still have my doubts despite his great season.

That’s not to say I’d be disappointed if we did sign him at a reasonable price.

I think part of it is that people haven't seen all that much of him. It is pretty easy to discount performance in the Championship as a lot of players have excelled there and failed in the PL.

Personally, I think that he is the right type of player (direct, can play wide and also score goals) for us. On the other hand I'd much rather Tello and their valuations don't seem that far apart in the world of fantasy internet transfer speculation.

                        That's exactly it isn't it? Ince's value.
I don't think anyone would have a problem at 5-6m but when knobhead Paul is saying he's better than Zaha and Man U paid 15m for him you think hmmm, then you see that we got Coutinho for 8.5m and you immediately think nah **** off, he was ****e all along.

Value for ****ing money, something we've largely been terrible at in recent years.

Tello is a prime example, IF we bought him for this 10m euro buy out clause and he tanked in the PL we could still sell him back to a La Liga team in 2 years and maybe still make a small profit, add in a sell on clause etc...

Chucking loads of money at someone like Ince makes no sense as there is no margin for error and he is untried at PL level.

                          I think you're probably right.

Coutinho's impact and the position that he plays in - along with his price tag - has almost certainly changed people's opinions on signing Ince.

No issues in going for him if the fee is reasonable, but to spend £££'s on a Championship player and hoping he can cut it in the PL is a gamble.
