He was a striker who played at Villarreal for a while. Had some long term injuries and ended up playing in one of the Arab leagues for big money if I recall after his career stalled.

How the he'll do you earn that amount of money a week. People's wages capped at 1% rise, no bursaries for nurses, cuts everywhere in the public sectors and he gets that. I know every other footballer is the same but that takes the ultimate pi$$.

If they go for Sanchez too, that's their front 3 sorted (plus Cavani). There'll be some good players surplus to requirements.
        Draxler or even Pastore too?

            Satement from La Liga;

We can confirm that the lawyers of the player (Neymar) have come to La Liga to deposit the clause and that it has been rejected. It is all the information we will give so far.

Seems they are saying PSG would be in breach of FFP and so won't accept.

Thats actually pretty disgraceful, can't see how they can do that and while we all know it's dodgy they don't even have PSG's financial accounts to know if they can meet FFP or not. They'll get ripped through the courts if need be.

The funny thing is I doubt they'd give the slightest **** if it was Atletico or Sevilla losing a player, only two clubs seem to matter there.

Yeah, they've taken a stance of 'Guilty until proven innocent' on this one it seems.

It's not for them to decide, without proof I'd imagine, that PSG would be in breach of rules that are set out by another body.

It'll all be sorted sooner rather than later.

Although I don't necessarily agree or disagree with La Liga's stance, I'm not entirely sure this transfer will go through now. If I was PSG, I'd be cacking it a bit.

Yup. I'm hoping it goes arse over just for the pure entertainment of it and to see at least one party with egg on their face.
                    Really?

Isn't the issue that the player is buying himself out of the contract rather than the club he wants to go to?
                      Oh I don't know.

Cheeky bid for Neymar at this point? Couts +£50m?
                        Really?

                          How are buyout clauses activated?

                          Posted at11:47

Confused? Yeh, me too, but this should clear matters up...

The biggest difference between Spanish buyout clauses and release clauses more common in other big leagues around the world is the manner in which they must be triggered.

Rather than the buying club merely paying the selling club the amount set by the contract, the player himself must buy himself out.

This is done by depositing the amount of the buyout clause with La Liga to release the player from his contract. La Liga then pass the money onto the selling club.

Normally this will require the buying club to pay the player the sum of the buyout clause up front.
                          Oh I don't know.

Apparently that's how buyout clauses work in the Spanish league (re: player buys himself out)

What happens to the €300m Neymar has received for his ambassador role if the move doesn't happen and he stays at Barca?

Obsv the key part is does the club have to pay the player the fee in order to buy themselves out or not? I would have thought not, as otherwise it would stop a player with no club from buying themselves out. It seems this is an unintended conflict between the rules of La Liga and the rules in FFP.
