I also can't see how he fits into our style of play, unless at the expense of Gerrard.

Certainly on high wages I think this would be a disaster. Another mill stone round our neck in the style of Cole.
He's another player that is an exciting prospect, a big name and someone who will come in and demand big wages, he's also not played alot of football in the last year or so. This situation looks to me to be a bit like the Cole and Kewell situations, if we sign him I hope it doesn't end up working out like those two...

I'm with dww. We're trying to get away from the culture of overpriced players and this would be a risky move to say the least

I'd genuinely prefer to continue trying the young players like Suso rather than paying ****loads to bring in players who are arguably past their best years.

I'm not sure I completely agree. But if we bring in someone then I think they need to have the right character and attitude. I'm totally unconvinced by Sneijder in that regard. Obviously that is based largely on hearsay though.

That's just my personal preference though, and I realise it may not be what's ultimately best for the team.

I don't necessarily think it is best for the likes of Suso either. I think they get better quicker in a team that functions well and knows what it is doing. At the minute it does feel like the whole side is finding its feet. Adding the right player might help that and allow us to get the most out of our youngsters without them burning out.

I think it is an interesting debate though in terms of both us and the PL. For years clubs have been trying to buy success and failing in player development. We seem to have improved in the lower levels of youth development but the real question is whether we can get players to kick on. I'm not sure that anyone has an answer to developing and holding on to top young talent in the PL at the minute. Even Wenger is having problems getting another generation of players to the stage where they push for the top 4 as the spine of a team.

I do think we are missing some experienced heads in the side particularly in the attacking areas - Gerrard aside we have no experienced role models in the midfield/forward areas for the youngsters to look to, and to help us through the games.

Tend to agree with this usually. But it's tough. Sneijder is clearly world class. Or at least was around the 2010 World Cup. I think he has had terrible luck at Inter too with managers going and injures.

So I'm in two minds here. He is a brilliant player, someone who can match Gerrard at his best on his good days. But he is also someone who will cost a lot and could be a burden if it doesn't work. I just think to players like Raul who went to another country and reignited his career at a club in a similar position to us in Shalke. So it does work.

Rodgers might have to choose between a No.10 i.e. Eriksen (Ajax) in the summer or Sneijder right now. Who would people pick?

I don't think both are viable as I reckon Rodgers really wants to bring in a few wingers, a defensive midfielder, a left back and a centre back, so it's going to be a case of either or.

This could be on I think since Cole and Sahin are off the books. At 28 he is no where near past his best.

The support and the platform he will get at LFC should make him get back to his best.

This sell on value and age is out of control. Utd won't get a penny back on van persie as they will keep him to the end of his career. In that time the goals and trophies will be value for money. In what situation would we want to sell on a top player? Squad players need to be moved on not stars. Sneider is a genuine world class player. We should be trying everything possible and more to get him in. The likes of Suso, shelvey will never be anywhere near his level. It's more than frustrating.

I totally get the concerns but at the same time I'm amazed so many are turning their noses up at a 28 year old Wesley Sneijder.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Surely never going to happen realistically

But it would be great if it did. What a player on his day, he could get us into the top 4 this season.
