    The Non-League Football Thread

Couldn't see anything recent about non-league football.

Which non-league club do you follow and why?

I lived in Kidderminster for most of my childhood after my parents left their hometown of Liverpool. When not going up to Liverpool to watch the footie, I opted to go and watch Kidderminster Harriers. The only other option was to switch my allegiance to a Midlands league team which was never going to happen.

A couple of Welsh Cup Finals, 3 FA Trophy finals, a 5th Round FA cup tie with West Ham and promotion to the league were a few highlights. Jan Molby was manager for a few seasons and Mike Marsh played for the Harriers as well.
Kim Casey scored 73 goals in 68 games in 1985/86 and Lee Hughes started his career at Aggborough before signing for WBA for £700,000.

This season the Harriers lost their first five games and drew the next five, lying bottom of the Conference after 10 games with just 5 points. Tonight, after beating Newport 2-1 away they are top of the league on goal difference with 74 points after 39 games played. What a recovery!

I'll always be a Liverpool fan first and foremost but I do like to go and watch a bit of non league footie. It's not as pretty or skilful but the atmosphere and all round experience is still good value for money.

    Good reasons!

Woking are my Non-League team. Grew up about a 10-15 minute drive away from Kingfield so it made sense. Plus I ****ing hate Aldershot so Woking were the only local team for me.

Been to Farborough quite a few times too and last saw them in the play-offs last season where it was belting down with rain and they lost 2-1 IIRC.

Chester 3 points off 100 for the season and a 3rd straight promotion.

Can't say I am looking forward to town on Chester/Wrexham match days

Stockport County relegated today - from the Conference.

Will be playing in regional non-league football next season - the 6th tier.

They've dropped pretty quick. Doesnt seem that long ago they were in the 3rd tier.

Just got back from the Kidderminster v Stockport match. Shocking scenes. After the first Kiddy goal, a number of Stockport fans invaded the pitch, punched one of their own players and then started to attack the Kidderminster players. Referee took both teams of the pitch and the game was stopped for 35 minutes until the police arrived to restore some kind of order. Can't believe it took that long for the police to show up or that there weren't any at the game.

Finished 4-0 to Kidderminster but unfortunately Mansfield beat Wrexham 1-0 and gained the automatic promotion place. Kidderminster finished on 93 points with 88 points from the last 36 matches.

Kidderminster now play Wrexham in the playoffs.

                        Decent striker at that level.

How does this work? The guy who scored the first goal for Wrexham. Someone tell Suarez to look for a long lost Welsh relative.

                              Artell off the hook

Wrexham entre-half David Artell was not expected to play, after being sent off for a high challenge in Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Champions Mansfield.

But, having been sent off by an English referee, in an English league game, the decision was overturned by the Football Association of Wales on Tuesday afternoon, just hours before the game.
