I think Bale will be off regardless of whether they qualify or not and then they'll have a bucket of cash to spend. Trouble is that Bale has been worth his transfer fee this season and they'll struggle to replace him for the sum they'll receive. They need to strengthen elsewhere too.

I'd rather see them in the CL if it means one of Chelsea or Arsenal miss out

I agree that it'd be difficult for him to improve on this season.

If Spurs get into the champs league next year this will able to attract a different calibre of player, they won't need Gareth Bale to have as good a season as he has had.
