Yet people argue the Premier League is still the strongest because outside the top teams everyone else has massively improved and stronger than in other leagues

Bottom half of this league is amazingly poor really.

I did the BBC predictor thing yesterday looking at the relegation permutations, under a load of different scenarios there'll end up being like 6 or 7 teams on 41 points. They all deserve to go down.

Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue

What tale shall serve me here among
      Mine angry and defrauded young?

For the sake of football fans I think the PL should suddenly increase the number of teams to be relegated this season to 5 or 6. I am having trouble believing some of the Sunderland and Stoke players are professional footballers.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Only he knows whether that's true but I thought when I first saw it that the commentators jumped to a conclusion about why he was smiling. Understandable perhaps but still a question of overlaying their own interpretation of it.

Of course it would have been much better if he'd pretended to be hurt, for the sake of appearances, etc. :roll*yes:

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

On reflection I quite enjoyed parts of the second half yesterday. Because Stoke had an extra man they seemed to feel like they should pass and move to exploit their advantage. It was quite sweet to see them trying and failing so laughably.

Wigan one up at half time. Hope they win to keep some interest going in the relegation "battle". And drag Newcastle further into it.

If it stays like this, 4 teams on 38 points all with two games to play. How exciting!

Yes, deserved too. I like Martinez , and wigan, even though they're run by an idiot. They'll go above Newcastle if they win this.

Same here really. I know they get criticised for their fan-base, but I'd much rather have a team like them who try and play decent football, than ****e like Stoke.

I hate Wigan, I hate the club, I hate Dave Whelan, and I hate Roberto Martinez. Overrated football too. Abomination of a city and a club.

                          Come on Swansea!

                            Any thoughts on Wigan Pier?

Not sure how anyone could hate Martinez. Perhaps not rate him as a manager - that's completely understandable, but he's always seemed like a thoroughly nice and likeable chap Not a Macedion chap though.

The Asda in Wigan has nearly 60 checkouts. Its a ghastly, god-forbidden place.
