I saw a few tweets a few hours ago saying a protest was planned by Armenian fans against those preventing the move from going through so maybe it's real, not that it will help.

Also have I missed something regarding Spurs interest in him? I've seen nothing indicating that myself.

Fans of the Armenian national football team and Shakhtar Donetsk where Henrikh Mkhitaryan is a midfielder will gather in front of the Football Federation of Armenia Monday, June 24, to express displeasure over the situation with Mkhitaryan’s transfer to Liverpool FC.
The organizers also issued an open letter which says that “Mkhitaryan fell a victim to FFA President Ruben Hayrapetyan’s oligarchic system”, which now hampers the player’s transfer to the English club.

“Mkhitaryan can’t fight against Hayrapetyan alone, as the latter always boasts about his personal contribution to the guy’s successful career, fans say.
They also plan to demand Hayrapetyan’s resignation.

I think it is real. If you look closely in the bottom right corner it was taken by the highly regarded Armenian photographer Shaggivan.

As it became known to ArmFootball.com from the sources close to the FC "Shakhtar", the transition Henrik Mkhitaryan to "Liverpool" could prevent his personal contract with Ukrainian football club.

The fact is that the "Miner" ask 40 million euros for Mkhitaryan. However, there is a clause in the contract, according to which the player can buy his contract by paying 30 million euros, but it is not the so-called sum of compensation (release clause) and must be paid by player himself and not by buying team.

In the case of "Liverpool" personally giving Mkhitaryan the necessary amount to pay off his contract would be difficult to implement in terms of a law. Transfer of € 30 million to an individual account can be a challenge for the English team, because they have to explain why this amount is derived from the country.

Top clubs in most cases avoid this practice, because they do not want to be under the radar of law enforcement.

Earlier, Mircea Lucescu said that a team is willing to pay the release clause" (amount of compensation), later adding that it is not quite a release clause."

The deal seems far too complicated if you ask me.

NESV should loan him the money, perhaps even own him as a(nother) third party separate from LFC. Once he signs, LFC can pay off the loan/buy him.

Come on, Man City would do something like that..

Buy a painting for €30m. Christmas/birthday present. Sell painting back to us. Pay the money to Shakhtar.

We would then end up with the player and a €30m painting.

I know that it probably won't work.

Its brilliant. First the clubs had all the power. Then the players took over. Now the businessmen/organised criminal fraternity rule the roost. Football is a game derived for entertainment. What the **** happened.
