If he goes Dortmund I think it's a clear case of him picking them over us. We both went in hard for him and going by media were both willing to pay similar fees.

I never said that I know everything. I almost always use IMO in my posts. If someone use that then it is an opinion and it is up to everyone to believe it or not.

Dortmund have reportedly been after him for about a month...it's not as if they've just waltzed in and got it done in a week.

Nah, they've just called Shakhtar, offered £21m and he's due for a medical, that's how transfers work, particularly those involving massive amounts of money being paid to Russia. It's just us who do stupid things like unplugging our telephones, translating emails into Esperanto and demanding milkybars as the transaction currency that cause ourselves avoidable problems.

We pissed Shakthar off and they decided to do no business with us. As already been mentioned that wouldn't be the first time. It happened last summer.

They don't need the money so they can afford to make decisions like that.

If he goes to Dortmund we'll sign someone else. Its clearly a complicated deal. Hopefully we are a bit quicker next time and can manage to keep the next player we go for under wraps until a deal is in place.

We are 5 (that is FIVE) days into the transfer window. To get upset over the club not acting quickly on this is a little perverse. Are there back up targets? Who knows, but I'm sure we'll find out soon. A lot of our signings come from out of the blue, so I wouldn't be in the least surprised if tentative negotiations on other targets have been taking place in parallel to this one.

That clearly isn't the case as I'd it was it would have been reported in Kicker (which as we all know is the only media outlet that can be trusted with regards to Liverpool news).

It's clear that Ayre hasn't been negotiating with anyone else and must be sack. The fact that Ayre hasn't been negotiating with anyone clearly shows that Brendan doesn't have the trust of FSG and so Brendan must also be sack.

Sack everyone as we are no longer a big team and our young talent will surely all go to Barcelona or Real next year unless we sack Ayre (and Brendan obz).

By all accounts he is the real deal so whilst I am no expert on him I know how highly he is rated and the fact the CL runners up want him also speaks for itself. Bottom line for me is he is a high value target that was going to make an impact because of his style of play and he seemed to really fit into what we are doing. So on that basis I am gutted. We need quality not quantity now.

We are five days into the window maybe but we have been negotiating for just over a month by all accounts, it's taken a really long time whatever the reason. The player probably chose Dortmund over us anyway, but I still feel it's OK to question the speed of things, Aspas also took forever and everyone and their dog knew about Alberto and Mignolet long before they signed. We took quite some time with those signings, Shelvey however was off in like two days afther the story broke.
