I haven't seen them, but I seem to remember De Boer saying something along these lines back at the end of May, beginning of June. Rehashed quotes mebbe?

Yeah that's probably why Dortmund chose that chap instead of Eriksen.

This whole saga is also concerning Imo as it shows just how the club is doing business. Its been said in the past the the way we go about our transfer negotiations tends to upset other clubs.

He was our number 1 target, marquee signing. LFC have pushed the story through journo's since the season end. Dortmund have always been linked too, they tried to buy him in January. Dortmunds interests was no surprise. Yet we've continued to peddle through the press his preference was us. All this time his club said we'd not even been in touch, let alone make an offer. Now he's gone elsewhere we're supposed to believe money was never the problem and it was just the player fancied Dortmund more so never talked to us. Couldn't we have found this out in May? It's nonsense and for LFC to be briefing the press other wise shows the utter contempt they hold the fans in that they think we'll swallow.

It's all well and good playing the waiting game when you're signing an Aspas with little competition for the signature, however with our current standing in the game and with Champions League clubs also sniffing around, the only way to do the deal is to get in quickly, pay the asking price and tie it up. The club now seem to be suggesting this was unexpected and they were expecting this to drag on for weeks, in that case I wonder if this deal was always totally dependent on them getting money for Suarez. Either way it's backfired. I find this idea that we were always willing to pay the asking price a little bit hard to swallow

And what if other players who would be just as crucial to our season demand parity?

Until we play in the CL again we must be prepared to make a loss. We can't try and save money in wages and transfer fees etc and at the same time have a realistic chance to qualify for the CL.

When it comes down to the top class players money talks and you need to spend even more in wages if you can't offer CL football.

There we go. Shakhtar CEO Palkin confirms talks with BVB, but says the club isnt happy with 25 million euro offer and are pushing for more

and how many players is that?

Suarez and Gerrard is probably the only two and we may sell one of them.

Agger may demand £20k or so more in wages, Coutinho and Sturridge the same.

                Shouldn't really be a problem.

Im not necessarily saying here that Mkhitaryan will join one club or another. The fact is that my source isnt lying or misleading us

So we had 20 m on downing and 35 m on carroll but we don't have 20-25m on the supposedly marquee signing.

We probably have the money but won't spend what FSG think is OTT.

It seems that FSG have set down some financial rules and won't break any of them whatever happen.

The deals you mention made them look like idiots............

No, we *have* the money, the guy has (potentially) chosen to join a team challenging at the top end of the Bundesliga and in the Champions League.

                                Interesting time.

Can anyone point me in the direction of any solid facts, quotes from the club etc. With regard to this guy who most had not heard of 2 weeks ago?
Liverpool in meltdown again, but all I've seen is rumours and press speculation.
