Some comments from Shakhtar CEO Sergei Palin

      - Henrik Mkhitaryan yet made contact with your club?
      - No. At least I have not talked to him.

      - Can you confirm that the "Borussia" voiced its readiness to offer to buy a striker for 23 million euros?

      - exactly, it offers over 25 million Mkhitaryan.

      - "Shakhtar" this amount is enough?

      - Not satisfied, but we are in talks with the German club.

      - Compromise on price possible?
      - Not yet ready to answer. We'll see.

      - In what time frame the issue can be resolved definitively?

      - Quite possible that in the near future we will come to anything.

      - "Spree" Mkhitaryan somehow taken into account in the negotiations?

      - No, it's completely different. But if he stays in the "Miner", then we'll deal with his behavior and impose sanctions.

      - He really has already agreed personal terms with the "Borussia"?

      - I this is not known. In the club Henry did not call his agent I did not talk. Such questions should be addressed to the player's side.

He was our number 1 target, marquee signing. LFC have pushed the story through journo's since the season end. Dortmund have always been linked too, they tried to buy him in January. Dortmunds interests was no surprise. Yet we've continued to peddle through the press his preference was us. All this time his club said we'd not even been in touch, let alone make an offer. Now he's gone elsewhere we're supposed to believe money was never the problem and it was just the player fancied Dortmund more so never talked to us. Couldn't we have found this out in May? It's nonsense and for LFC to be briefing the press other wise shows the utter contempt they hold the fans in that they think we'll swallow.

It's all well and good playing the waiting game when you're signing an Aspas with little competition for the signature, however with our current standing in the game and with Champions League clubs also sniffing around, the only way to do the deal is to get in quickly, pay the asking price and tie it up. The club now seem to be suggesting this was unexpected and they were expecting this to drag on for weeks, in that case I wonder if this deal was always totally dependent on them getting money for Suarez. Either way it's backfired. I find this idea that we were always willing to pay the asking price a little bit hard to swallow

@arturpetrosyan: Last Friday it was all but a done deal. Even celebrations started at some parts of the world, Moscow and Yerevan included.
@arturpetrosyan: But then #LFC put it on hold having lost confidence they could 'sell big' soon after 'buying big'.
@arturpetrosyan: What now? Dortmund have moved quick and are now confident to make a deal. Raiola couldn't wait for #LFC forever.
@arturpetrosyan: Nothing's still signed but they're close. If it was 99% to #LFC (all details were agreed last Friday), now it's 99% to Dortmund.
@arturpetrosyan: If you still wonder which clubs were after Henrick but he chose #LFC over them, it's Atletico Madrid and Man City.
@arturpetrosyan: And well there's no need to blame me. I was and am just sharing info that I know. And now gutted as anyone else or probably even more...

considering the player was supposedly very keen/desperate to join liverpool it's more his agent who is deciding which club he goes to ...the player needs to man up
