footballer quits to take up wrestling

Former Port Vale goalkeeper Stuart Tomlinson is giving up a career between the sticks to take up fighting in the ring – as he jets off to join WWE.

The 28-year-old former body builder, retired from professional football in July because of a knee ligament injury, but it now looks like he’s been given a ticket to try his hand at wrestling with the American franchise.

Tomlinson, who played 81 times for Port Vale before leaving in 2012 to join League Two side Burton Albion until he was forced to call it a day, tweeted: ‘Looking forward to a new job (with the) WWE. Swapping two posts and a net, with four posts and ropes – USA bound!’

i remember a period a few years back when gerald was out injured and yossi ran the attacking section, playing like a worldie number 10

Aye he did. Got 11 goals in the league that season didn't he? Snip at £7m.
                      3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Who's watching the Keane & Vieira thing then?

Never know what to think of Keane. Utter prick or good guy? Or both?

He fascinates me. His honesty is refreshing - sure he might say some daft things at times, did a couple of terrible things as a player, but it's more interesting with people like him around. He was such a fearsome player and leader. Those ****ing mad eyes. What a warrior he was. I know some United fans can't stand him now, likewise Ireland football fans, and I get that, but United and Ireland mean **** all to me. I think he's great. Wish he'd played for us.

And FWIW I think he shades Vieria, who was also a colossus.

His honesty is great and I like how he called out that journo when he was Ipswich manager.

Dunno, I just sort of think that he plays up to this madman thing (with the eyes etc), and yesterday he just came across so, so bitter. It seemed like a blatant attempt to have a right pop at Ferguson.

Which is ****ing great. I bet the old cunt was spewing.

Unsure though. I think I like him. Agree he'd have been immense for us too.

Vieira seems like a proper gentleman.
