      What did he do?
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Ray Wilkins is to return to Fulham as part of Rene Meulensteen’s coaching staff.

The 57-year-old was manager at Craven Cottage in 1997 prior to taking up coaching roles at Chelsea, Watford and Millwall and had a win percentage of just over 47 per cent.

His experience is seen as vital to helping Meulensteen cope with facing up to a relegation battle, one that is all the more realistic following yesterday’s 6-0 thrashing by Hull City.

Fulham appointed Alan Curbishley to a technical director role last week and Wilkins will add extra expertise after years of service at Chelsea where he worked as coach and caretaker manager.

The former England international midfielder has been working as a TV pundit and co-commentator but is renowned in the game for his man-management skills and ability as a coach.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, who was sacked as Chelsea boss at the end of the 2010–2011 season, wrote about Wilkins, in his autobiographical book The Beautiful Games of an Ordinary Genius: 'Ray is one of those select few, always present, noble in spirit, a real blue-blood, Chelsea flows in his veins ... without him we wouldn't have won a thing.'

It will be no mean task for Wilkins. Fulham boss Meulensteen apologised to fans following the defeat to Hull and acknowledged he and his players will have to go back to the drawing board to revive their season.

Although Clint Dempsey has joined on loan from Seattle they want another striker, midfielder and centre-back in the January transfer window as they look to boost a flagging squad.

What a brain trust that is being formed at Fulham. Getting Curbs on board yielded a 6-0 away defeat at Hull, getting Butch Wilkins in should get them bottom within the next couple of weeks if that trend continues!

If it gets Wilkins off the tele, I'm all for it.

French football teams could be in for a fat bill thanks to the French Parliament (I'm sure Platini will manage to corrupt wangle a solution to negate the responsibility of Qatari club owners).

75% tax rate for people earning over €1,000,000 but employers are liable for what would normally be the employee share. Given the wages that means they are going to be using up all lower bands within a week or 2 and the top whack for 50 weeks of the year.

                      50x 75,000 x, say for PSG/Monacco, 10 players

                      Ouch.
                      Football without Origi is nothing

Monaco is exempt as technically not part of France
