It makes absolute sense if Deulofeu's immense quality helps us into the top 4.

And assuming he did come on loan and did do well which is highly unlikely given his age/experience, Barca would never let him sign for us. Getting him on loan does not make sense unless we have an option to buy.
I think the point saj makes is sound here. It seems highly unlikely that a 19 year old would adapt instantly and make the difference that pushes us into the CL.

The problem with bringing players in that prevent us playing/developing our young players is a real one. Failure at this stage also makes it harder to attract and retain young players in the future. However, it equally applies to the other signings we have made/will make.

There's no way IMO we'd even be thinking about bringing him in on loan if they didn't believe he was good enough to make an instant impact.

Especially when you look at the fact we've got a few attacking youngsters who we're now struggling to get in to the team. This kid is rated. Not sure if Barretty was referring to a loan or permanent deal though

The problem we have is actually getting into the CL. We can't attract the level of players required to stay there until we get into the damn thing. City had the same problem initially.

The answer is we need to shop smartly similar to Dortmund, find the real gems whose profile is not yet on the RADAR of those teams who regularly qualify.

If BR thinks this young lad can bring a spark and offer something to help project us up into the top 4 then a loan is a no-brainer.

Once we scrape into the CL another world of better players will become available to us.

This generation of players don't remember the Liverpool glory years, so we can't play that card anymore, most only see money or CL football as a reason to move to a club that doesn't have the pull of Barca/Real et al.

Any help that we can get is now needed, Suarez even though he is a **** should stay if possible, BR needs all the help he can get.

Is there any substance to the idea we are after this lad or is it all just internet twaddle?
              .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Tony Barrett in The Times reported that Rodgers wants him.

I think it's bollocks. Was surprised it got it's own thread.

Rodgers is now considering a move for Deulofeu, who scored 18 goals in 33 appearances for Barcelona B in the Spanish second division last season.

The 19-year-old is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in Spain, but is aware that his immediate prospects of playing first-team football are slim at the Nou Camp.

Deulofeu is understood to be keen to join a club who prioritise passing football in the event that he has to leave Barcelona, and fits the profile of player that Rodgers is keen to attract to Anfield.

Liverpool would be likely to face strong competition for Deulofeu if they decide to make a move for the teenager, but the presence of Alberto, with whom he enjoyed a productive partnership for Barcelona B, could be a trump card.

Liverpool are optimistic that a deal can be struck with Shakhtar Donetsk to sign Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who has been warned by his club that he faces a fine after failing to return to pre-season training.

I'm sure Rodgers is considering a move for plenty of players, this one only made it to print as he's making headlines at the Euro's.

I just can't see it happening.

Why...you don't think Barca will release him? Already looked to loan him to some clubs in Spain. He won't get a game next season with Neymar and Messi there as well as Sanchez. I think he'll be sent out on loan for sure

I'm not convinced that we would want him on loan or if a loan move here would be good for him and I don't think there is any chance of a permanent move.

Also, us with a host of other clubs always get linked to players whenever they have a good tournament anywhere and 99% of them obviously never materialise.
