Depressing. Bid for Henry M - Dortmund got him. Bid for Soldado - Spurs look to have got him. In for Bernard - looks like Arsenal will get him.

Seems like any signing over £15 million we cannot complete.

I'm not sure how we will compete long term without FFP being stringently effective. The frustrating thing is that I truly believe that over the course of a few years we have the right team in place to build a great side - but I do worry that integral players will have their heads turned year on year and leave for clubs playing in the CL before we get back in it, making it a continual rebuilding process.

You're right - I don't know for definite. But I think it is pretty likely that we did bid for them. As for HM, I think Rodgers mentioned recently that he never got the chance to sit down and talk to him even after bidding.

Maybe you are right - and I actually hope you are and that the club have something up their sleeves. That would be fantastic to pull another rabbit out of the hat of Coutinho proportions while other clubs are spunking millions.

But Hunter seems pretty reliable overall on Spanish stuff, so I'm leaning towards believing him. Maybe we did not bid for Bernard, but I think we'll have to agree to disagree on that.

I think Hunter is ok on Spanish stuff. He seems pretty **** when he starts talking about transfers from one English club to another. Anyway, we'll see quite soon I guess when the online papers come out.
