thing is tho - i'd still expect or hope us to find and attract good enough players to improve us whether they cost us £1m or £50m
it's a little worrying that in my eyes we need two minimum players to improve the first team and our chances and we as of yet don't seem much closer to getting in anyone
take LB for example - there doesn't seem to be much out there, we've linked with a few, Aly Cissokho seems to be the one for more that fits are remit perfectly for the deal (cheap, played decent level and experienced, risk free due to low cost and only coming in as cover, available and we are interested) - so i don't know why it's not been sorted
i know football tranfers are difficult but i'd be nice to get the two maybe three players needed for the start of the seasoni own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

...that pressure on getting players in before the start of the season is only going to escalate too with the Suarez saga.

maybe we are in the position now where we have to overpay for players and then pay them higher salaries too. otherwise were going to start the season without the two or three players we need to push on.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

Maybe we've tried that and they still won't join. Mickey Ryan wouldn't even speak to us to find out what we were offering!
In a way it makes sense, you only want players at the club who's only motivation is to be one of the best and to win things yet that would likely preclude them from joining us right now, unless they believe in the "project"
More Coutinho's might be the only way for us, finding those gems that none of the top clubs seem to fancy.

One difference between Coutinho and Mkhitaryan or even Suárez (now) is age. The latter two are entering or in their prime. Coutinho is way off it.
So he can afford to play here and develop. If the club improves he can stay, otherwise he'll move on. The other two might understandably feel they need to be competing at the highest possible level right now..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

To be honest I really don't know why we are supposedly after him.Originally posted by frank the tank View Posthey Mostar, what would you make of Costa as a signing?
Personally, i think he would replace downing as opposed to Suarez. He would play a bit like Kuyt would have for us in that he wouldnt be our main man but would chip in with, say, 10 -15 goals a year as well as a few assists.....
Will be interested to see how the rest of the window goes but the people laughing about Darren Bent shouldnt laugh so loudly in my view - he might end up being the back up to Sturridge that we are left with at the end of the window!!!
My fear is that any selling team will also now know that we are desperate for reinforcements..... so we will get double-ended in the transfer market for the rest of the summer - in that we probably won't get adequate value for Suarez as well as the fact that we will pay over the odds for his replacement!
He is a decent player but he is nothing special at least not for the money being mentioned.
Cannot see him as Suarez replacement nor I think he is Downing upgrade regardless if Stewie goes or not but I do wonder where we would fit him.
He did play on the wing for Atletico but that is not his preferred position.
That said he is a type of striker we don't have so I can see why BR may be attracted.
In fairness it is Atletico that doesn't want to sell not a player that doesn't want to move.Originally posted by Riche View PostSo another 20+ million player we got no chance of signing? ..
Odd that .. are we only bidding for players we have no chance of actually signing?
Good way to appease the fans while saving some cash FSG. hmm ... or is this more fallout from bringing in a manager who's learning the job as he goes and has little attraction for quality players. Also taking into account last seasons result.
I can't believe Liverpools standing as a club is this low after such short time of FSG ownership. I don't buy the champions league is the be all and end all for players, maybe for clubs wanting to cash in but not so much players.
Maybe this is in the wrong thread.

That said they have purchased Villa and Baptistao from Rayo Vallecano and with Adrian and Turan they could sell him if they want but atm they don't seem to be keen on doing so.
Things could change before the window closes so I wouldn't rule this one out just yet.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

When I think about this (potential) transfer, I can't help but wonder if we wanted this kind of player, why we weren't in for Loic Remy on loan?
Similar attributes as Costa, and would have saved ourselves some £££!
The charges against him have been dropped no? If not, that'd be why then, I guess.

Remy is a donkey. Costa is a much more technical and versatile player.Originally posted by The Mule View PostWhen I think about this (potential) transfer, I can't help but wonder if we wanted this kind of player, why we weren't in for Loic Remy on loan?

Could be good if this came off, think we have to trust the manager on such things and see how it pans out first.Originally posted by Bender View Post@Liddellpool: #LFC are still working on deals for new recruits – one of which is understood to be the £24million purchase of Diego Costa Telegraph
But, if we did actually keep Suarez, added Costa, maybe a couple more depending on departing players, probably in defence, then we'd be looking ok, and very exciting, noone would like playing us that's for sure, defenders would hate it. Suarez and Costa on the same pitch in the same side.
Arsenal could be left chasing their tail, although, i'm sure both Arsenal and Spurs are working on deals of their own outside of the ones we know about. :|
