Had to laugh at him saying Aspas was unproven but talking up a Dutch League player who's started just 26 league games in the last 2 years. The dig at Hendersons goal scoring was a bit weird aswell. Obviously Dembele and Lennon score ****loads between them.

Lewis is supposedly an LFC fan but he never seems to say anything positive.

@gillsyno1 It's very simple. Spurs & Liverpool both in for him but neither have agreed a deal as yet.

Willian arrives in England to decide his future

Liverpool FC should discover by the end of the week whether there pursuit of Willian has proven fruitful as Tottenham also also chase the Brazilian

Liverpool FC should discover by the end of the week whether their pursuit of Willian has proven successful as the Brazil winger arrives in England to decide his future.

Willian is scheduled to jet in to the country inside the next 24 hours having already revealed his next move will be to a Premier League club.

Liverpool remain in pole position for the 25-year-old’s signature after last week opening talks with Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala over a possible transfer.

However, the move alerted Tottenham Hotspur whose manager Andre Villas-Boas refused to deny reports his team have also registered an interest in the player.

And while Willian will hold talks with Liverpool, he may also have discussions at White Hart Lane as he considers his options.

Willian has been made available for transfer despite having only joined Anzhi for £32million from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk in January.

Anzhi’s billionaire owner Suleyman Kerimov is looking to cut costs having bankrolled the club for the last two years, but any hopes of a significantly reduced sale have been dashed by an asking price believed to be in the region of 30m euros.

Liverpool are in negotiations in an attempt to drive down the fee, but could have their hand forced should Tottenham table a bid for the attacking left midfielder.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers hopes to address another problem position with left-back Aly Cissokho close to completing his switch to Anfield.

A deal was agreed last week with Valencia over a season-long loan with a view to a permanent transfer, with the 25-year-old France international now on Merseyside to undergo a medical and finalise terms.

Liverpool opened their Premier League campaign on Saturday with a 1-0 home win over Stoke City but were indebted to a late penalty save from debutant goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.

Mignolet was a £9m summer arrival from Sunderland, following the path trodden by Jordan Henderson two years earlier.

And Henderson was impressed by the performance of his former Black Cats colleague.

“I thought Simon was brilliant with two brilliant saves at the penalty and the follow-up after that,” he said. “That was magnificent.

“He has been brilliant since he came in. He was brilliant at Sunderland when I was there and he has been brilliant since he came into the club and he will get stronger and stronger.

“It was a brilliant save and it will do him the world of good. It is a good way to announce yourself at Liverpool.”

Henderson was awarded a starting role in midfield at the weekend ahead of Joe Allen, in contrast to last season when he had to wait until November for his first Premier League start.

And he added: “It is always nice to play. But we are a squad and there will be times when other people come in and I have to keep fighting for my place and hopefully stay in the team.

“It is a good start, first game, first win and I think we played quite well at times. Hopefully we can build on it.

“I think we have kept improving all the time, we ended last season quite strongly and we have picked up where we left off.

“We wanted to start the season well and from our first win hopefully we can kick on and do well against Aston Villa next week.”

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Yeah loads of people asked him whether "Ready for both outcomes" meant we have an alternative. He hasn't responded to that

Spurs were being heavily linked with Lamela last night. Could they sign both? Huge outlay that. £60m on two players, playing in similar positions?

Liverpool FC remain hopeful they can convince Anzhi Makhachkala winger Willian to move to Anfield.

The Reds are battling with Tottenham for the services of the £30million-rated Brazilian winger.

Both clubs have enjoyed positive talks with the Russian outfit over a fee and Willian, who has his heart set on a switch to the Premier League, is mulling over his options.

Some reports have suggested that the Londoners' ability to offer European football this season has helped give them the edge in discussions.

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas also knows the 25-year-old personally having come close to signing him twice before.

However, Liverpool have been encouraged by their talks with the player's representatives and manager Brendan Rodgers is hoping Willian will accept the chance to line up alongside fellow countrymen Lucas Leiva and Philippe Coutinho.

Liverpool are expected to confirm the signing of Aly Cissokho on a season-long loan from Valencia today.
