I don't know why you're bothering to engage tbh. He's like a machine banging out the same line and never considers your line of argument because, quite frankly, he doesn't have the answerOriginally posted by EwarWoo View PostAnd then you end up with other players coming up to the boss "why am i earning less boss, I perform just as well" so you either have them pissed off and wanting to leave or end up sticking everyone on silly money.
Suddenly we've destroyed all the work to tidy up the books that's been done and we have no money for transfers next summer.
And tbh I don't think I'd really want a player who can be won over only by a bit of extra money.
He was going to come, but maybe as been won over by Spurs. Just as likely for the location as anything else.
There will be other players willing to come here, we're not exactly Accrington Stanley. We just have to be patient.Last edited by Norbs; 20-08-13, 09:37 AM.

No CL it is then.Originally posted by Norbs View PostMeh, seems a bit of a mercenary anyway. I don't know home many times it has to be said but we should only want players who want to be here because of who we are and where we're going. If they don't then **** 'em
How many of the top 50 players in the world would sign for a club that can't offer CL football and not getting paid fantasy wages?
It is massive wages or no CL football.
We don't play in London and that means that we will have to pay even more in wages to compensate that.

No, I don't broke my promise. I won't discuss our finances. I only discuss what it takes to get a top class player to sign for us IMO. This summer have proved that.
Massive wages or no player.Stop the cyberhate

from now on I will skip talking about our finances. That is a promise and will save myself from looking like a

At least we're playing some entertaining football whilst we wait, gotta be worth something.Originally posted by Norbs View Post

Being the new arsenal, maybe not so valuable.
So I'm torn.
But I just don't think it's viable and will harm us long term chucking money at it so regardless of my feelings towards that type of player I don't think it's a good route to take.

Really. Because all the evidence would indicate that we've a clueless rookie manager who hasn't the pulling power to bring in decent players, a wage structure which bears no resemblance to the demands of the modern footballer, an inept CEO who should be sack from doing transfer deals until he has managed Barca or some national teams (or should just stick to commercial deals) and a set of owners who are desperately working behind the scenes in an attempt to make sure we don't sign anyone, win anything and don't come any higher in the league than 8th.Originally posted by Neil Young View PostYes, it's not been plain sailing but it could have been worse - look at Arsenal.

I imagine there are other options to consider as that's how any decently run organization operates (and I'd say that's increasingly true of LFC) but how advanced an alternative transfer might be is impossible to say. I guess we'll know if Willian doesn't sign and we get someone else in quickly.
How can you not see that, Neil? The evidence is there and irrefutable!!!Last edited by Rowan; 20-08-13, 09:49 AM.A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

We're not going to know until the window shuts. As long as we don't panic buy, I'll be happy. We can't do much about missing out on top players. I think we're genuinely trying and offering the money. So I've not got any issues with it

Do you even vaguely understand what the word prove means?Originally posted by Arn View PostThis summer have proved that.
Can you show me some categorical proof that we'd have signed even one of our targets had we offered then silly money.
This summer as proved sweet fa other than we're struggling to get players to come here. Anything regarding reasons is purely conjecture.

He sure was (despite what we now know about the true nature of Mkhitaryn and Dortmund's seedy liaison.Originally posted by Reece View PostWasn't this guy - Artur Petrosyan - adamant that Mktaryan (sp?) was joining us?
So looks like we're getting him after all
