Who would they get to take the poison chalice that is the England managers job? He's brilliant, about the only player that looks comfortable in possession in the England side.

Rooney is rusty and Gerrard has never been the kind of player he's trying to be, too deep and its just not his game to sit there keeping it simple.

None of Walcott, Welbeck or Walker are great at keeping possession, they are pacey impact players. Cleverly on the other hand can't even offer that.

If they could get Carrick, Gerrard and Wilshere together it would look much better IMO, I think Sturridge is obviously a better option than Welbeck too.

There's no point in trying to be rational, England are managed by Roy Hodgson
