RTÉ sports presenter Bill O’Herlihy left soccer fans a little mesmerised last night by calling out a strange statistic live on air.

Die-hard soccer fans were left a little mesmerised while watching RTE's Champions League coverage.

O'Herlihy called out a fake statistic about Manchester United manager David Moyes - seeming completely oblivious.

"He has seen 39,432 players over a total of 5,097,301 times," the presenter said.

On Tuesday, The Guardian‘s Daniel Harris had jokingly written in daily transfer gossip column ‘The Rumour Mill‘ that:

Today, an amused Harris tweeted: “Wrote that Moyes spent 10 months watching 39,432 players a total of 5,097,301 times. Someone on telly believed me.”
